Anti-Aging Tips That Actually Work

Anti-Aging Tips, Anti-Aging Tips That Actually Work

If you’re concerned about your aging appearance, you’re probably among the many women who’ve got a pile of anti-aging products stacked up in the bathroom cupboards. While these products may be great for making you feel more confident, they’ll only take you so far. When you really want to tackle aging issues, it’s making changes your lifestyle that will make a real difference.

Stop Smoking
If you need another reason to stop smoking, this is it. Along with reducing your risks of lung cancer and heart disease, quitting smoking will also do wonders for your appearance. The effects of smoking will cause your skin to age prematurely, discolour your teeth and nails and cause wrinkles to appear on your face. The action of smoking increases facial motion which is the start of wrinkles and the smoke cuts off circulation to the body, stopping red blood cells from doing their job. Stopping smoking now could take years off your face later.

Get Your Antioxidants
When it comes to healthy eating, it can give your complexion the glow you’re after. Of course, eating a variety of fruits and vegetables is the best way to go, but when you want to take the next step, up your intake of antioxidants. Antioxidants give your skin what it needs to protect itself from the free radicals present in our environment. You can find antioxidants in foods like fish, poultry, chickpeas and sunflower seeds.

Don’t Ignore Protein
Protein supplies us with sustainable energy we need to be active. Doing daily exercise promotes circulation around the body which always reflects on your skin. Similarly, protein is the best way to fill up when you’re hungry, so you aren’t looking for the foods that usually damage skin, like the treats we all tend to indulge in. Protein is a wonderful for building muscle mass and protecting joints, so you don’t end up needing joint replacement at an older age.

Silk and Satin
Have you ever wondered why silk bedding is so highly sought after? It’s not just the gentle feel while you’re resting. Silk and satin are the most sensitive materials when it comes to your skin. Other materials like cotton and polyester tend to pull on facial skin as you sleep. Silk will slide off the skin easily without causing any damage. Think of the number of hours you’ll spend in bed during your lifetime. That’s a lot of unnecessary damage to your skin.

Lower Stress Levels
We all know that stress isn’t healthy for us. However, stress is also something that will show up on your skin. Stress can cause wrinkles, acne, dark circles and much more. It isn’t always easy to lower stress levels, but if you want to protect your skin, keep stress to a minimum. If you’re working hard, make sure you play hard as well so to ensure that you maintain some sense of balance to your life. Take time out to relax by heading to a spa or going on vacation.

Aging is inevitable and if you want to look good doing it, you’ll need to look after yourself.

These are great tips Rowena! I struggle with stress. Thankfully it hasn't taken a toll on me aging, but overly stressing isn't good in general.

I was a heavy smoker for about 10 years and even though I quit a long time ago, I feel like the effects are still visible...sigh. Anyhoo, lately, I think it's been stress that's really aging me, chingu! The joys of getting older:D
