Back in August of last year, Chanel announced it would be launching Boy de Chanel, its first makeup line for men. Known for a range of classic and innovative beauty products, Chanel has long been a favorite of makeup lovers. "By creating Boy de Chanel, Chanel reaffirms the ever-changing codes of an unchanging vision. Beauty is not a matter of gender, it is a matter of style. Just as Gabrielle Chanel borrowed elements from the men’s wardrobe to dress women, Chanel draws inspiration from the women’s world to write the vocabulary of a new personal aesthetic for men, lines, colors, attitudes, gestures. There is no absolutely feminine or masculine prerequisite: Style alone defines the person we wish to be.”
New photos of the campaign show brand ambassador, South Korean actor Lee Dong Wook wearing the range of three product offerings that includes Boy de Chanel Foundation, Boy de Chanel Eyebrow Pencil, and Boy de Chanel Lip Balm. He looks flawless yet natural proving that men can also wear makeup if they should choose and be able to look and feel great without judgement.
While this makeup line transcends gender barriers, the idea of makeup being just for women or men is merely a social construct. There is no actual rule that dictates who can wear what and while this range is marketed towards men, the sleek, matte midnight blue packaging as well as the products themselves will likely hold universal appeal for men and women alike. I'm personally interested in the eyebrow pencil for myself.
Boy De Chanel Foundation features a long wearing, adaptive formulation with soft-focus micro-particles that work to create even-looking skin and correct visible imperfections for a natural look with an imperceptible finish. It contains hyaluronic acid hydration and lasting comfort as well as SPF 25 broad spectrum protection. $65 (available in 8 shades)
Boy De Chanel Eyebrow Pencil is a retractable, dual-end pencil that contains waterproof formula on one end and on the other a spiral brush to blend and groom. Emollient oils allow the formula to glide on smoothly and evenly, while natural wax keeps hair in place and provides lasting wear for 8 hours This product can be used to shape and define the brows or any other facial hair. $40 ( available in 4 shades)
Boy de Chanel Lip Balm is a moisturizing lip balm that works to nourish lips with a natural, matte finish. The transparent, non-shiny formula with jojoba oil, shea butter and vitamin E nourishes lips for over 8 hours. $38
The collection is currently available exclusively on the the brand's website which also includes includes videos of model Tim Schumacher demonstrating how to apply the products.

Interesting beauty products. We keep in touch. xx
Yes, he really looks flawless and he is the best proof that with using the products of this line a man can look fantastic! I think it speaks in the favour of Chanel that they finally brought out a makeup line for men. Thanks for sharing!

Man....Dong Wook just looks better and better every time I see him:D Really so excited for this line, and I hope it succeeds.
I am quite surprised that Chanel had not created a specific makeup line for men years ago, since a lot of MUA use similar makeup for runway anyway. I remember makeup artist friends always doing a touch of makeup on the models when I was in menswear. This line looks fantastic for men!
Intriguing... This would be great for actors.
Cool sharing! Happy 2019 to you & family! xoxo
Like you I am tempted by the packaging and design myself, it is an aesthetic that speaks to me. In the end we wear whatever we want, but I think it is about time we have a mens makeup line.

I totally love Lee Dong Wook, ever since watching Goblin. Incredible actor, these photos are gorgeous and I think it's about time to see more makeup lines for men as well. Skin care and otherwise is for everyone or should be marketed that way any how. Love the packaging!! x
Truth be honest the packaging all looks very sleek and professional.

I think it's great that Chanel introduced a line of make up for make up. The brand ambassador looks amazing, great editorial. I like how natural the make up products are.
I like this brand:)
How handsome is Lee Dong Wook! Swoon. And I can't believe there hasn't been any developments in make-up for men. I remember years ago reading a novel and in it they mentioned men's make up and I thought "OMG how is this not a thing?!".
