Dine Out : Cobble & Co.

Cobble & Co. Review, Cobble & Co. New York, Cobble & Co. NYC, Cobble & Co.Seaport

Cobble & Co. is a modern gastropub located in the center of the once again vibrant historic Seaport District. Situated on a corner where Front meets Water Street, the airy two-level space with outdoor patio seating and floor to ceiling windows provides incredible views of the surrounding cobble street lined neighborhood. The table setup and molded plastic chairs give off an informal almost cafeteria like vibe. The menu features a fresh take on classic American comfort food like burgers, nachos and mac and cheese. For those looking for healthier fare, they offer a small selection of salads. They also have an extensive menu of drinks and cocktails to accompany your meal.

Cobble & Co. is known for a focus on burgers and offer up 11 varieties on their menu. We've dined here on several occasions and can say the burgers are generally well cooked and juicy and served with a generous portion of crispy fries.  My husband is partial to the Classic with American cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion and special sauce. I like the Heritage Turkey with smashed avocado, pepper jack, mustard butter, piquillo and Fresno chili oil. We've also tried the the Cobble Cobb Salad and Fish & Chips which were good but nothing special. The burgers are definitely where it's at here and they use meat from Pat la Frieda so you know it's good quality.  Most of the food is served on tin trays covered with paper and a lot of times they are chipped which they probably think is charming. No it's not!

The service is generally friendly but can be quite hit or miss depending on your server and the host/hostess working the door. This is something they really need to work on because it can be really prompt and attentive or inefficient, inattentive, and disorganized regardless of whether it's busy or not. The bathroom facilities located upstairs are super old for some reason and don't match with the rest of the space. I try not to use them if I don't have to. Cobble & Co. definitely benefits from their location and the fact that they serve good burgers which is pretty much the only reason we'll go there every so often. Yes this place is a short walk from our place.

Seems like a nice enough gastro pub, a great place to grab some burgers, so it's a shame that the service isn't better. As you said, it sounds like something thy need to work on.

We love pub grub so this sounds like it would be better, but too bad about the unsteady service. I haven't had a burger in a long time and now I think I might have to make one tonight! :)

"...which they probably think is charming. No it's not." LOL, chingu:D Don't ever change. And amen! I'm pretty laid back, but bad service is a pet peeve of mine. That's good at least that it's not the norm.
PS. Those burgers do look awesome though. Nomnom:)

It looks like a fun place to eat, although what a shame it's not the best experience every time you go with the varying levels of service!

Hope that your week is going well :)

Never underestimate a well prepared burger! I understand you are dining out there frequently as the food looks yummy and I absolutely believe your description. In the Bavarian country side we definitely miss really good burger restaurants ...

I never need an excuse for a good burger (something we crave a lot in Asia!) Both your burger and your husband's burger sound like great choices! I have to email you soon too btw!

I'm not a fan of burgers, but the interior of this place looks great! So bright and airy, and I love the hanging plants!

I've heard there are a lot of restaurants in the Seaport District, but I'm almost never in that part of town since I work and live further north. The burgers look great and the buns look so perfectly smooth, like it's in a TV commercial. I'll have to check this place out whenever I'm in the area!

This looks like a super fun place to visit. Too bad about the service and the bathrooms but to me it is worth the risk. I will have to hit this up next time I am way downtown.
