On At Home Microdermabrasion And The Trophy Skin MiniMD

Trophy Skin MiniMD Microdermabrasion Device, Trophy Skin MiniMD Review, At home Microdermabrasion,

As much as I believe in the power of a solid skincare routine, I believe that professional treatments and the use of certain at home skincare devices can really go a long way to amplify the effects of skincare products as well as transform skin and get me closer to my skin goals. I currently rotate between a few devices and have used a personal microdermabrasion device on and off for years.  I was recently sent a Trophy Skin MiniMD Microdermabrasion Device to try out. Read on for my thoughts.

TROPHY SKIN MINIMD MICRODERMABRASION DEVICE

$99

Microdermabrasion is normally done at the doctor's office, but this handy device makes it possible for you to do it yourself in the comfort of your own home. With a single 5 minute treatment, the Trophy Skin MiniMD Handheld Microdermabrasion System is designed to you a glowing and younger looking complexion. It has a 100% crystal free professional diamond exfoliating tip that acts like a vacuum with two levels of powerful suction that works to physically lift and buff away dry, damaged cells and stimulate circulation to create an immediate healthy glow in your skin.  Continued regular usage can help to improve the appearance of lines, wrinkles, scars, skin tone and texture, sun damage, age and dark spots, and even refine the appearance of pores. This device is safe for all skin types including sensitive and can be used 2 - 3 times/week on the face, neck and chest.  With continued regular usage, MiniMD can deliver similar results as professional clinical treatments.

The Trophy Skin MiniMD Handheld Microdermabrasion System includes one MiniMD Microdermabrasion Device, one diamond exfoliating tip, 30 black wool filters and a power adapter. The company recommends using an ultrasonic jewelry cleaner to remove the skin cells from the diamond exfoliating tip every few months

Trophy Skin MiniMD Microdermabrasion Device, Trophy Skin MiniMD Review, At home Microdermabrasion,

The Trophy Skin MiniMD Microdermabrasion Device should be used after washing and drying your face. The unit is portable but it is powered by a corded power adapter that gets plugged in which I don't really mind since my last device operated the same way. I use it in front on my makeup mirror by the window which is right by an outlet anyway.  Power on the device to the desired suction level, brace the skin area being treated and using short even strokes, move the diamond tip across the skin with the tip flush to your skin. The user manual for the device has a diagram with guidelines to how to work it around your face, starting with the cheeks to around the lips to the under eye area followed by the forehead ending with the nose.  The diamond tip is like a coarse sanding surface that abrades as you move it around. The suction action feels light and your skin can get a bit red if you go over the same area repeatedly. The directions actually advise not going over the same spot more than 2 - 3 times. Afterwards they recommend rinsing your face with cold water to remove any remaining debris. I like to do a quick mask (usually the Skin Actives Intensive Recovery Mask - review) to soothe and refresh my skin.  If I have time, sometimes I'll put on one of my favorite sheet masks.  As for the device, they recommend replacing the filter with each use but I find that a little excessive so I clean and rinse it out and get a few more uses before replacing it. The diamond tip can be gently cleaned using a toothbrush to remove any dead skin cells and debris. The maintenance for this is quite minimal and simple.

Trophy Skin MiniMD Microdermabrasion Device, Trophy Skin MiniMD Review, At home Microdermabrasion,

The MiniMD has gotten me back into regularly microdermabrasion treatments again. I use this once a week every other week (with no acids or exfoliants used two days before of after) on low speed for most of my face and the higher speed on my nose and cheek area where my freckles are. The treatment does take just 5 minutes. I haven't experienced any irritation or sensitivity. This is definitely the type of product in which you see cumulative results with continued and dedicated usage. I use it primarily to target the freckles on my face which have faded considerably thanks to a combination of treatments and avoiding the sun. This helps with the physical lifting off and removal of pigmented cells to ensure they go away. It also makes my skin softer and smoother and has improved clarity overall. Removing the dead skin cells also helps the active ingredients in my skincare products to better absorb and work more effectively. My husband also uses the MiniMD and it has really helped to refine the appearance of his pores as well as lessen the texture on his face. I find I get the best results doing this  treatment in the evening because sometimes I do get a little aggressive and end up with a little redness but it always goes away and my skin looks like I had a facial the next morning.

Trophy Skin MiniMD Microdermabrasion Device, Trophy Skin MiniMD Review, At home Microdermabrasion,

I have had professional microdermabrasion treatments before. This is not as intense but it does provide visible results. Is this something everyone needs? Not necessarily but it can be a nice investment and be a benefit to any skincare routine especially if you have issues with congestion, texture, large pores, hyperpigmentation or scarring from acne. The key is actually using it and 5 minutes is not much time.  It's also relatively affordable especially in comparison to the cost of a professional treatment plus you have the ease and convenience of being able to do this at home at your convenience.

Trophy Skin MiniMD Microdermabrasion Device, Trophy Skin MiniMD Review, At home Microdermabrasion,

The Trophy Skin MiniMD Handheld Portable at Home Microdermabrasion Device can be purchased at Amazon, Dermstore, and Zulily. I have some more skincare device reviews coming including an at home skincare laser I'm testing now, the ZIIP Beauty Microcurrent Facial Device and the Foreo UFO.

Have you tried any at home microdermabrasion devices?

My ex-boss recommended me this but by a different brand and I was hesitant to try as I am worried about the risk of irritation. That said, sounds like you and your husband have great results with this and I might just snag myself one when I see a sale.

I've always wanted to try professional microdermabrasion but I'm such a chicken, chingu, because I have acne-prone skin that breaks out so easily. This sounds something that would be great as a first step as it's not as strong. So good to hear that it works and you like it. I trust your recs:) And yay that it's on Amazon!
Have a great day:)

I have not yet tried one, but I have had professional microdermabrasion done and loved the effect. I am a little worried about these devices though: You clearly know what you are doing, but I fear some people might get overexcited, use it too often and paired with too many other actives and do damage to their skin.

This sounds easy and I could similarly use some help with refining my skin and keeping my freckles at bay.

it sounds like a really interesting product and it's good it's giving you results! I've only had microdemabrasion a few times, it's an interesting experience, not sure I could do it myself at home, haha!

Hope that your week is off to a great start!

I have never tried a similiar device, but it seems relatively easy to use. It is great to know you have both used it and were happy with the results. I definitely like the fact it only takes a few minutes and can be used from home.

This reminds me of the PMD device but looks so much better not to mention that it's priced better. I am excited to hear about the other two you're testing. :D

I have used microdermabrasion treatments before and I have sensitive skin but I have used other brands for at-home devices, and do have Foreo although I have not used it in a bit. This device looks very sleek though!
