Modern Love, Revised and Updated: True Stories of Love, Loss, and Redemption
This book is an anthology of some most popular, provocative, and unforgettable essays from the past fifteen years of the New York Times “Modern Love” column and it includes a stories from the Amazon series of the same name. I've always enjoyed this column because the stories are human and real.

Watching...
Suits and Chocolate
There's something about the cold weather that just makes me want to watch K-dramas. Suits is a remake of the American series which we stopped watching after the first few seasons because it got ridiculously convoluted but I'm intrigued with how they'll tell the story which follows the same premise in a fixed 16 episode format. The Korean cast is also more attractive and walk like normal people. I really wish American tv would do more limited run series like these so you don't get shows that drag on for years with no purpose. I didn't intend to watch Chocolate because I'm not a fan of the leads but I put it on while wrapping presents and got totally hooked.

Listening to...
my entire iTunes library with a special appreciation for the Chinese music which gives me a certain sense of comfort nowadays. I'm remembering how much I adored songs like  Chi Lam's infectiously upbeat You're So Difficult To Forget (你是如此難以忘記). Gosh I used to have such a crush on him back in the day.

Eating...
Japanese sweet potatoes (Satsumaimo) which are a rich source of a variety of vitamins and minerals essential for health, including vitamins A, C, E and B-6, potassium, calcium, sodium, phosphorus, manganese, copper, iron and magnesium. I like to microwave "bake' them and have one for lunch with a salad. Not the most exciting thing to eat but it's really filling with incredible health benefits. If I'm feeling decadent, I add a spoon of Kerrygold Pure Irish Butter. The purple Okinawan sweet potato is even better but harder to find.

Drinking...
Sound Sparkling Organic Tea
I'm really enjoying this refreshing drink that combines the clean health benefits of unsweetened organic tea with the crisp bite of sparkling water. The Chamomile and Rose are my favorites.

Trying...
out foundation again sporadically for events and when I want to look a little more polished. I'm using the Westman Atelier Vital Skin Foundation Stick that I had a chance to pick it up on substantial sale recently. Thank you Barneys New York liquidation sale! I had tried a deluxe sample earlier this year and liked the light, luminous coverage as well as the clean formulation with skin-improving, anti-inflammatory ingredients. My skin looks like my skin but better and it's so luxe.

Wearing...
this Trina Turk coat. So I ended up getting the J. Crew Cocoon Coat in  my last wish list. I went for a size 2 after reading reviews and it' still too boxy. Even though I love the color, I'm not into looking bulky so I returned it. I actually think this speckled black and white coat is a better option because it's a little more classic and versatile and I can wear colorful accessories with it. Chances are I also won't have to see too many people with it.

Upgrading...
to a Hoover ONEPWR FloorMate. Our old Hoover floor cleaner was leaking and I found a great deal on this during Cyber Monday so I jumped on it and boy am I glad I did. It's better in every way since it's cordless, lighter, more efficient and easier to clean. Yes I use a floor cleaner because I'm obsessed with clean floors since we don't wear shoes at home.

Loving..
This charming microfilm that takes a glimpse inside a decade at a Chengdu teahouse.

The Japanese sweet potato reminds me a lot of a tuber we know here as "camote", I remember seeing some chapters of Suit and then I left it because it didn't convince me.

I have been wearing foundation again too, not much but only at the centre of my face. I find myself reaching for it more now that the weather has cold down.

Oh I started watching the Netflix series based on this book and articles. I also watched Dirty John which was based on a series of LA Times articles and pod cast. It as good. I will have to check out Suits and Chocolate. And that coat is great. I picked up a similar coat second hand at the American Thrift in my town. It is gray wool with a brown faux fur color. Hope to post about it soon. It was great meeting up with you yesterday, had a great time!

I didn't know there was such a thing as Japanese sweet potato. It's great to know that it's so healthy. I need to look up this vegetable. I do love greens in general so if there is a veggie out there that I didn't try, I need to look it up.

You're always reading, watching and listening to interesting things. That book about modern love sounds interesting and I bet your music taste is lovely. It is fun to go back and listen to music we used to love when younger, because often we still love it. Both TV series sound fun too.

This is a beautiful short film. The way it shows the tea house through time is wonderful. The whole film feels really natural, the shots follow one another effortlessly (I'm not sure if shots or frames is the right word to use in this context, I don't know that much about cinematography but it is definitely a beautiful film). Lovely music and actors too.
