A Review Of The NoMakeNoLife Japanese Korean Beauty Box

Nomakenolife Review, Nomakenolife Beauty Box, Japanese Korean Beauty Box, Subscription Beauty Box

NoMakeNoLife is a Tokyo based beauty box subscription service that delivers authentic beauty products from Japanese and Korean brands. The name comes from a popular Japanese phrase “nomakenolife” which translates too ‘makeup is life’.  NoMakeNoLife beauty boxes feature a curated selection of 8-9 full-sized beauty items from 6 categories (makeup, skincare, bath and body, hair care, and beauty tools and accessories)  from popular Korean beauty brands like Etude House, Innisfree, and Tony Moly and notable Japanese beauty brands like Canmake, DHC, and DollyWink. NoMakeNoLife sent me their November Box to review.

Each monthly NoMakeNoLife box is curated around a theme. The theme of the November 2021 box is Autumn Glam and it contains 8 full size makeup and skincare products.

Kirei Factory 8-Color Eyeshadow Palette
Retail Value: $10
From NoMakeNoLife: Looking to up your eye game this fall? This 8-color palette is the way to go for any look you want. There are 5 different palette, and each palette features some gorgeous color variations, plus different textures like semi-matte and pearl. Comes in 5 varieties: Coral, Brown, Pink, Orange and Pink Brown.

My Take: I think I got the Pink Brown colorway, not sure because it's not clearly marked. The shades in this palette look really pretty. I'd probably use all of the neutrals but the red, rust and burgundy shades would not work for me. Also didn't like that this is made in China because it's probably not cruelty-free which something that's important to me when it comes to beauty products.

PeachC Slim Waterproof Fixxy Liner
Retail Value:  $12
From NoMakeNoLife: Another great addition for your pretty eyes. This eyeliner features a thin center that makes application easier. Applies smoothly in one pass and features three vivid colors: Black, Deep Brown, and Soft Brown. It’s even quick-drying, only taking 15 seconds.

My Take: I received this in Soft Brown which I don't mind since it's a color I don't own but would use. The liners goes on smooth without skipping and is easy to create clean lines with. I can't speak to how long it wears yet because I haven't worn it for more than a few hours.

ITs SKIN Vaselip Glow
Retail Value:  $14
From NoMakeNoLife: Looking for a shiny lip look? This lip glow uses plant oil ingredients, giving it a creamy texture and moisturizing power to fight dryness and maintain plump, youthful lips. Comes in 4 super cute colors.

My Take: This actually sounds like a  product that I would like but I don't like the color I received. Red is a very polarizing makeup color for me in a not good way so I didn't try this and will be giving it away.

Melliesh Multi Heart Color Cheek Palette
Retail Value:  $7
From NoMakeNoLife: An adorable palette perfectly-sized for on-the-go beauty. This silky smooth cream-type palette comes in 4 color combos (one matte and one pearl) perfect for adding color to cheeks, lips or eyes. Comes in Orange Carrot, Bronze Borwn, Pink Burgundy and Gold Terracotta.

My Take: I received the Pink Burgundy palette and the shade is right up my alley. The cream gives a healthy and dewy flush as a blush and adds a pretty wash of color on the lips. The pearl makes a nice highlighter.

5-Piece Makeup Brush Set
Retail Value:  $8
From NoMakeNoLife: Need some new brushes? We’ve got you covered with 5 new ones that are kind to your skin. In this one pack, you get a face & cheek brush, 2 eyeshadow brushes (one big one small), a lip brush, an eyebrow brush, and a cute pouch to store it in.

My Take: I already have makeup brushes so this set isn't something that I need or am wowed by but I think it could be useful for travel since it covers the basics and has it's own case.

Peach Point Mask
Retail Value:  $3
From NoMakeNoLife: Enjoy peaches any time of year with these peach point masks. Whether it’s your face, hands and feet, elbows, or knees, you can restore any tired areas with the hydrating hyaluronic acid and the scent of peach.

My Take: These cute little mask patches are cooling and hydrating. I think they would be great in the summer out of the fridge.

Premium Serum Mask Pearl and Botanical
Retail Value:  $5
From NoMakeNoLife: Autumn is a perfect time to treat yourself! So go big with a premium pearl mask. Make skin brighter and clearer with plenty of moisturizing ingredients that penetrate deep for softness and fullness. Perfect for after a tiring day or the morning of a special event.

My Take: This sheet mask was okay.  I found it a tad sticky and didn't care for the fragrance but I had on my face for like 5 minutes so it was fine. Not the best or worse I've tried.

Surprise K-beauty Item - Healing Bird Hand & Nail Cream
Retail Value: $7
This hand cream scented with chamomile & lemon is formulated with  93% shea butter and hydrating botanical ingredients to provide immediate moisture deep into the skin.

My Take: I'm never mad at seeing hand cream because I go through so much now with the increased hand washing. I was a little worried that the scent of this would be overpowering but it's actually lightly lemony and nice. It's not too thick and absorbs well without feeling greasy.

This NoMakeNoLife box was a fun discovery because with the exception of ITs SKIN, all the other brands included were new to me. It's nice that all the products are full size and when you add up the individual prices, it's a good value. I personally would've preferred more skincare or other personal care products than makeup but I guess the makeup fit the theme more. I just find makeup to be a a little tricky because not all shades suit everyone. This box would be great for someone who enjoys trying new makeup and beauty products on a regular basis.

If you really enjoy a product from a box, you can also easily purchase it directly from NoMakeNoLife. You can sign up for a NoMakeNoLife subscription on their website.  You can try out the service on a monthly basis for $35. Thanks for the heads up on this box, Rowena:) I like that you get full-sizes. That cream cheek palette I think is the one I would really like to try out of all the stuff included.

Great box. I agree with you on the hand cream. It always comes in handy, especially now with the increased washing of our hands.
