And just like that we're at the start of a new year. I don't know if it was just me but 2022 simultaneously felt like it crawled and flew by at the same time. I'm not really one for new year's resolutions but I do believe in establishing goals and intentions in order to establish a sense of purpose while setting a path for what I hope to achieve. As ever my focus remains on self care and self improvement.
One of the few positives about the pandemic was that it turned me into someone who works out regularly and this was the year that I got into cardio HIIT and more intense strength training which has improved certain aspects of my health like stamina, flexibility, heart health and VO2 max levels. These go a long way to helping me to feel better and have more energy. 2022 was also a year where I continued to lessen consumption and I took it a step further by selling some of our stuff. Boy did that felt good. I do better with less anyway. Our household also continued to live cautiously to avoid catching COVID which means we will continue to mask and avoid dining out, maskless gatherings as well as other risky situations. This has impacted our social lives but if it means not catching COVID, it's worth it to us. I know a few people that contracted COVID more than once who are now living with neurological impairments and other issues from long COVID. The new XBB.15 variant sounds really terrible.
Anyway I came up with this list of intentions to make this a better year both for myself and those around me. Happy New Year! May it be a good and healthy one for us all! Do you have any intentions for this year?

Have a great 2023!
Thank you. I needed to read this.
Happy New Year, chingu! Here's to a better year ahead of us...fingers crossed. I totally hear you about getting long COVID...every time one of us even gets the sniffles, I'm testing everyday, which means a LOT of testing, but oh well...gives us peace of mind. Anyhoo, I love the intentions you created. Definitely the first one is one I'll be practicing (or try to), and also want to read more books this year, so yay for that:)
What a great way to start the year! I'm glad you shared these reminders Rowena. Covid numbers are pretty high right now in South Carolina. I'm vaccinated, boosted, and I still wear my mask as well. Wishing you a wonderful 2023!
Covid did so much damage to so many and now it is increasing again in so many states. I believe that we have to find ways to protect ourselves because we have to learn to live with it until the Government allows the scientist to come out with the cure. I also believe if we could come out with a vaccine to stop spanish flu in an era of less technology and knowledge how is it possible we cannot have a vaccine cure and prevention for covid. Happy New Year.
These are some good intentions. If even half the world lived by these the world would be a much better place.
