Happy Autumn!
Reading...
I've been on a bit of self help kick recently and this book offers a fascinating look at the science of nutrition and eating well. It is comprehensively researched and informative with a lot of interesting facts about all types of food. The author also delves into the food industry and the environmental impact of food production which is both enlightening and frightening. I'm learning so much that is unexpected like 2 cups of Americano coffee contain more fiber than a banana.
Watching...
Started Dinner Mate on the train to Rhode Island. It's a romance about two people who meet unexpectedly meet and become dinner partners who meet up for meals. I'm into how lighthearted this is and how it is mostly free of drama. The soundtrack is so good too! Chinese Restaurant is a reality show in which a group of Chinese actors open and operate a Chinese restaurant with the goal to promote Chinese food culture. Past seasons have been set in Thailand and Colmar, France. The current season is in Budapest, Hungary. This is our first time watching it and it's pretty fun and entertaining. Not going to lie, I got sucked into because of Greg Hsu. Anyway the appeal of Asian shows like this is that they get actual high profile celebrities not the bottom of the barrel z-list like western shows. Like V from BTS was on Jinny's Kitchen.
Listening to....
My current favorite actor Greg Hsu goes by Greg Han as a musical artist. Before getting into acting he was originally poised to become a singer. Greg has a deep and soothing voice that is pleasant to listen to. The songs are an eclectic mix of genres with thoughtful lyrics. The standouts to me are I Couldn't Care Less, Soufflé and One Day At A Time. How cool is that album cover?
Eating...
We eat salmon at least twice a week and sometimes more. While I have go-to ways of preparing it, I'm open to new recipes. This recipe is easy, delicious and healthy so it hits all my requirements. I always keep a head of cabbage on hand and this preparation seasoned with onion, rosemary, dijon mustard, soy, and apple cider vinegar is so tasty.
Drinking
Matcha Avocado Smoothies
I adore matcha and avocado have found a new way to enjoy both together. This is my current favorite breakfast smoothie. It's just matcha powder, a whole avocado ( I like the tiny ones from Trader Joe's), two handfuls of spinach, 2 tablespoons of almond butter, almond milk and collagen protein powder blended together. With a trifecta of healthy fat, protein and fiber, this drink is creamy, delicious and gives me the energy I need for my workouts.
Wearing...
I have always adored tweed blazers because they're such an easy way to elevate any look. I picked up this vibrant fuchsia menswear style jacket on major sale over the summer and have been waiting for the weather to get cool enough so I can wear it. It looks so good with jeans.
Loving...
I was fortunate enough to win this from Madison's giveaway over on Fashion Tales. She raved about this pain balm and it is seriously so good. Made with 1000 mg of full spectrum CBD and a blend of menthol and soothing essential oils, this product is designed to help relieve the aches and pains that come with the stress of everyday life. I've been using this as part of my workout recovery process and it works so well on muscle aches and soreness.
Missing..
Rhode Island
We took a quick getaway to Rhode Island in the first week of September. We chose the destination because friends had recommended it and it was so much fun. I will post a travel diary soon so I'm not going to go into detail here but I will say it was a COVID safe experience and we did enjoy it.
