Falling for the Charm of My Bias, My Boss

If you're a regular reader of this blog then you will know about love of Asian entertainment, specifically Korean dramas. I've been watching K-dramas ever since the early 2000's and they're still one of my favorite forms of entertainment. My husband and I are currently watching My Bias, My Boss and it you’ve ever daydreamed about meeting your favorite celebrity and somehow ending up in their daily life then My Bias, My Boss feels like a warm, sparkling wish come true. This gem blends the giddy excitement of fangirling with the comfort of a workplace rom-com, making it the perfect binge for anyone craving a dose lighthearted escapism.

The story follows Nam Da Reum (Kim Hye Jun) a devoted fan of the former boy band D.N.X., who lands a job at APPELLO, a trendy fashion platform in hopes of a chance to work alongside her idol Lee Chan (Cha Woo Min). Instead, she reports to the company’s sharp, perfectionist CEO, Kang Ha Gi (Kang Hoon), which leads to a complicated love triangle forming between these three. What could have been a cliché “celebrity romance” is instead handled with a refreshing mix of humor, awkwardness, and genuine emotional beats. Watching Da Reum navigate her professional responsibilities while trying not to implode from fangirl overload is both hilarious and endearing.

We are really enjoying the nostalgic rom com vibes as the show channels the charm of mid-2010s K-dramas, with quirky misunderstandings, heartfelt moments, and just the right amount of slow-burn romance. With popping chemistry, the leads have a natural, playful dynamic that makes every interaction sparkle. This show is a comforting escape since it’s not centered around high-stakes drama or heavy plot twists. It's really more about about joy, connection, and the thrill of actually meeting your “bias” and seeing them in a whole new light.

What makes My Bias, My Boss so addictive is how it captures the pure fun of being a fan. The little moments of excitement, the awkward slips, and the quiet admiration while also showing that real relationships are built on more than just admiration from afar. It’s a drama that makes you smile without trying too hard, and sometimes, that’s exactly what we need.

The main cast of Kim Hye Jun, Kang Hoon and Cha Woo Min recently appeared together in a September issue of Allure Korea, posing in chic, office-inspired looks that mirrored the tension and chemistry between their characters in the show. Kang Hoon and Kim Hye Jun share a close pose holding hands that echoes the romantic pull between Ha Gi and Da Reum while Kim Hye Jun and Cha Woo Min sit side-by-side in casual yet intimate poses which reflect the playful yet charged dynamic between Da Reum and Lee Chan. The pictorial showcases the individual charms of the actors while also emphasizing their natural rapport, with expressions that capture the “butterflies and uncertainty” of their relationships. The drama’s blend of fan culture, corporate politics, and romance has made it a hit, and the Allure photoshoot has only amplified interest. 

For the record, my husband and I are team boss and we have been delighted with the way the story has been moving along even with the manufactured drama. I like that as a CEO, he isn't a chaebol (heir) and he is competent and fair. And as as man, I appreciate how considerate he is of Da Reum and her feelings. The three leads are perfectly in their roles and the supporting cast are solid as well. I was already a fan of Kim Hye Jun and now I like Kang Hoon as well. We will definitely miss this drama when it ends next week. One of the best things about K-dramas is how they are a fixed number of episodes and don't go on and on for seasons like Western shows which eventually devolve in quality and go on for too long. At least with Korean dramas, they get resolved quickly which is just one of the reasons I adore them. And 2026 has been a really good year for K-dramas.

In a world where so many dramas chase high-stakes plots and shocking twists, My Bias, My Boss stands out by being unapologetically feel-good. It’s a reminder that sometimes, the best stories are the ones that make you smile without trying too hard. It’s about the magic of meeting someone you’ve admired from afar, and the even greater magic of discovering yourself and what you really want.
