Dine Out : Maialino

We had been wanting to dine at Maialino for awhile now so Restaurant Week seemed as good a time as any. For those unfamiliar, NYC Restaurant Week which occurs biannually in early Winter/Summer, offers an experience at some of the city's finest restaurants for a fraction of the usual cost. A three course prix fixe lunch is offered at $24.07 while dinner can be had for $35.00. We booked lunch at Maialino. The self-billed Roman style trattoria is located in the Gramercy Park Hotel. The entrance off the hotel lobby leads into a busy coffee/wine bar area through an open pass bread station onto the spacious dining room. The decor has a rustic homey feel and if you're lucky to be seated by the window you're treated to a view of Gramercy Park. Some restaurants put up a rather limited RW menu but Maialino offered two menus at $24.07 and $35.00. We opted to each order from one for a variety of options. The food was both hearty and delicious. We enjoyed all our courses enough that I would come here even if it wasn't Restaurant Week. If you go, the pastas are a must. And Maialino means "piglet" in Italian in case you were wondering.

These are some incredible food shots, and it all looks delicious! So many places just turn out crap during Restaurant Week, so this place must be truly incredible.

I love Maialino! I first went the first month they opened and honestly didn't love it but I decided to give it another shot a while later and ended up loving it. They definitely worked out the kinks. Often I'll have a drink on over at the Rose Bar and then walk on over. A few times I've even been able to eat at the bar without a reservation. Love those lucky days :) xoxo

The food looks delicious and I also very much love the lobby of the grammercy hotel. Should remember that for a future NY visit. But off to Paris first;)
Glad you had such a great lunch there. We have similar dinner weeks here in Holland.

we ate here a few times and never had a bad meal. the last time we went was back in october for my husband's birthday dinner (well, one of them) and the food was so amazing but so rich that I felt like I couldn't really eat for days. I was SO full. it was worth it though.
