Sprinkles Cupcakes Cupcake ATM & Bakery

Sprinkles Cupcakes ATM, Sprinkles Cupcakes

Buying cupcakes is already a happy event but to be able to purchase them from an ATM that exclusively dispenses the baked treats is a uniquely fun experience. I stopped by Sprinkles Cupcakes Cupcake ATM after a doctor's appointment uptown recently to try it out for myself. First of all, it's pink and adorable! The Cupcake ATM is sandwiched in between Sprinkles Cupcakes and Sprinkles Ice Cream at 780 Lexington Avenue which is right by Bloomingdales. The Cupcake ATM is continuously restocked with a variety of cupcakes and operates 24 -7 so you can satisfy that cupcake craving anytime. You touch the screen to begin and are presented with a display showing all the available cupcake and frosting options. You make your picks, pay and then your cupcakes appear momentarily from behind a sliding door. You do pay 50 cents more per cupcake for the convenience and novelty but it's definitely worth trying once. Sprinkles Cupcakes are usually $3.75 each. They also carry minis for $2.00 each and smaller doggie cupcakes which are sugar free with a yogurt "frosting" for $2.50.

I picked up a dark chocolate for hubster and a sugar free red velvet for myself cause we're kind of boring like that but Sprinkles does have quite an impressive selection of flavors including special monthly ones. I don't actually eat cupcakes all that often so I'm picky about them. I was impressed with the freshness and natural taste of these. The texture of the cake was light and moist and the cream cheese frosting was mild in flavor and creamy but not gooey. I can't do gooey frosting. The sugar free red velvet cupcake was very yummy and did not taste like a sugar free treat. They also offer gluten free and vegan options on their red velvet cupcakes. The dark chocolate cupcake had a nice rich dark chocolate flavor and wasn't overly sweet. There are some places that just make their cupcakes way too sweet. Sprinkles Cupcakes are a good size as well. They're known for baking their cupcakes in small batches and using premium ingredients and that is apparent in how their products taste.

The best time to visit the Cupcake ATM is definitely during the weekdays before noon which is when I went. If the line for the Cupcake ATM is too long, you can always drop into their shop for your cupcake fix. It's a bright and cheery space with cupcake seats and a flavor "walk of fame". The staff is quite friendly and helpful. If you're looking for a frosty treat, there's always their Ice Cream shop which recently sponsored a charity initiative featuring a special ice cream flavor developed by Michael Strahan and his mom for which 100% of the proceeds benefited the St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital. Now that's pretty cool. Sprinkles recently debuted a new downtown home in NYC at the newly opened Hudson Eats at Brookfield Place. The California based chain also has a number of other locations around the US, some with their own Cupcake ATMs.

Have you tried Sprinkles Cupcakes? Would you purchase a cupcake out of an "ATM"?

But have checked out soon the others flavors and I see there are millions! I need to remember it if ever will fly over US (which is always onto my wishlist), as you I dont eat cupcakes that often, these ones are scrumptious!:) Have a lovely week my dear, many hugs! xo

I've been hearing about this ATM everywhere lately and I used to work near the 60st and Lexington location but never stopped by due to the long lines. I'm glad you posted about it because now I can know what to expect when I stop by, which I hope is soon.

I absolutely LOVE Sprinkles Cupcakes. My favorite so far is the Coconut. It is so heavenly and light. Strawberry is also another good one, in case you're interested ;) I've never tried the atm but I've seen it before and think it's such a cool idea! The picture you took are great, you always do such thorough posts. :)

Oh Wow! What a creative and unique idea to dispense them like this. I DO enjoy a cupcake every now and then and I am amazed with the varied selection and type of ingredients used to create them (gluten free, sugar free, organic, etc) I was waiting to see a photo of the two you received;)

Hope you had a wonderful weekend Rowena. My blogging is taking a back seat to the home construction so pardon my absence every now and then. Happy Monday! xxleslie

I think it's a fascinating concept, but I'd probably never buy one from a vending machine. I feel like they would be stale. I'm actually super picky about my cupcakes in general because my mom makes the best I've ever tasted so nothing else seems worth the calories. :) I'm really glad you enjoyed yours and the sugar free didn't taste weird!

Oh how fun and novel!! Cupcakes 24/7 sounds amazing.

I haven't tried cupcakes out of an ATM machine yet but I think it is a pretty cool and cute concept. I like that they have a vegan option and I wouldn't mind trying that. :)

WOW! I wish we had one of those around my area! Although, it's probably a better idea and better for me that there isn't. Those cupcakes look so delicious! I'm glad you mentioned the quality of the cupcakes, considering it's a machine and I'm fairly picky about the cupcakes I rarely eat too. It's become such a common type of shop to see, some of them aren't really all that good, but I'd love to try this place out!

OH MY! This is such an ingenious idea, Rowena, whoever that came up with it, thumbs up! Such sweet pastel colours, looking all tantalizing already, even if you don't buy, you most definitely be curious to check it out! Me neither is a cupcake fan as they tend to taste real sweet.

Am glad to know that at least they have sugar-free versions, as well as healthy gluten-free and what not, who says desserts can't be a tad healthy? haha

Amazing! Must check this out if I ever visit NYC one of these days, thanks for sharing such wicked finding! Hope you are enjoying your sweet sweet week!

Big hugs,
Jeann

Amazing! What a happy area, Sprinkles and Bloomingdale's in one spot!! I never would have dreamt there would ever be a cupcake ATM. I love it! I'll have to see if there is one around me:)

I love Sprinkles! The one in Bev HIlls is always swarmed with high school kids so I try and hit up the one in Newport Beach when I can, it's the only way you can get in and out quickly. Wish I didn't see this though because now I am craving one :)

Ermaghed, the cupcakes are TOO CUTE AND THIS IS ONE BRILLIANT IDEA. I do like cupcakes, but I'm usually not a fan frosting as I find them too sweet. Sugar free velvet does sound up my alley though

I have had Sprinkles cupcakes but not via the automatic machine. Cute idea, I thought their cupcakes were okay the flavors I wanted to try were not all available the day I was there Will have to try this when in the area!

Cupcakes ATM? That sounds like one of the greatest invention ever! I would love to have a go at such ATM. I would be boring and choose dark chocolate and red velvet too coz these are such delicious flavours. When it comes to cupcakes, the photo-worthy ones are usually not so delicious and the boring looking ones or boring names are often the best!
