My Winter Hats

Hats for Warmth

Since winter isn't going away anytime soon, hats will continue being a big part of my daily outfits. Headwear is a must when it's chilly since I feel so much colder when my head and ears aren't covered. I'm aware that the theory that one's body loses most of it's heat through the head has already been disproved but I remain convinced it's true. Most of my winter hats are beanies and I really like ones with pompoms. The only thing is that they don't fit under my hoods which I do actually flip up for extra warmth on those really frigid days. My favorite hat is the Orla Kiely one in the upper right corner which I bought years ago at a Showroom Seven sample sale. The bright colors are a real mood lifter. The black fuzzy Sherlock style one on the lower left is Genie by Eugenia Kim and the only non-beanie in my collection of winter hats. I picked it up on sale for just $10 at Anthropologie last year. It looks much better with the ear flaps tied up and still covers my ears. Warmth definitely trumps concerns of hat hair and sometimes I even use a hat to conceal my hair issues. My husband is also hat person in the winter and he favors slouchy beanies. My other winter must would be my mittens.

Do you feel like hats keep you warmer during the winter? What is your favorite type of hat?

When I lived in NYC, warmth definitely trumped everything else. :)

I also believe that the body loses heat via the head. You have a nice hat selection!

Hi Rowena! I do agree with you and Im convinced of that theory as well, thats why I cant live without them in winter too. You have such a lovely and fun collection, the ones with the pompoms are definitely my fav, especially the grey one which is also very stylish. Happy Wed! xo

For some reason, I've never like wearing a beanie except on bad hair days. LOL! I do love your collection though, especially bottom row, second from the left. I probably should be wearing more beanies but this winter was milder according to my hubby so I survived it without too much problem.

That's some collection Rowena! I am still mourning the loss of the one hat I ever truly loved but I do have a beanie with a pom pom I've been wearing lately.

That Sherlock hat is awesome, Rowena:D I'm a big fan of hats for winter, but I've only really been wearing my slouchy one that I knitted. I should really make some more.

Happy Wednesday Rowena! Yes I love hats. I had no idea that the theory has been disproved btw. I don't believe it. It's really important to wear a hat during the cold days. My favorite are beanies too. Your hat collection is awesome. Much better than my hats :D

Rowena, your hat collection is the cutest! My favorites are the pink and one's trimmed in pink, plus the grey & black with pom pom. My grandmother believed in hats of all kinds! Lately, I've been wearing a cloche. I need to get more of them.

Well, I don't go out without my hat during the winter! It has to be at least 10+ degrees (Celsius) to go out without it. I do feel much colder without my hat and I don't believe any scientists, haha. The problem is that this winter I have only one and just like you, I like it to be with a pompom.I really like the last 2 from the first and the second row! I hope that soon I won't be wearing my hat, but to be honest, I don't really believe it...

Your hats are so fun and colorful! I usually went with a wool newsboy cap for winter but have my eye on a Eugenia Kim hat now (err to wear eventually) with pom poms too!

I agree Rowena! I think covering one's head makes a huge difference when trying to stay warm! I wear a beanie almost every day in the winter. Not only does it keep me warm it also helps me manage my crazy hair. WA state is cloudy and drizzly all winter so you either need a hat, beanie, or hood to stay dry. Pompoms are super cute and I have one too:) xxleslie

Great collection of hats. I do feel like hats keep me warmer, especially those that cover the ears. Not crazy about hat hair, but when it gets freezing cold, comfort always comes first :)

I am definitely a winter hat (i.e. beanie) lady! While we don't get a harsh winter like true winters on the East Coast, we still get frosty weather. I definitely feel beanies keep me warm and that's so important when you're out and about trying to get from point A to point B!

$10 ANTHROPOLOGIE HAT???? VERY NICE. I recently scored a tiny glass bowl from there for $2 and I was beyond pleased with myself. I really do need to step up in the hat department though, just because my bowler hat, though cla$$y, does not cover my ears, resulting in pink/red ears :(
I need a hat with ear flaps!

Gorgeous picks for hats friend! I am SOOOOO with you on covering my head.....without throwing on my hat I am COLD here in Chicago! So hats are a must and I will have to check some of these out!! Adorable!! Happy night pal! Nicole xoxo

I agree hats are a must in winter, I love the Orla Kiely hat of yours the best because of the colors. All my hats have pom poms but the one I wear most often has a pom pom made of feathers. :)

Such a cute hat collection! My favorite is the burgundy and metallic beanie on the upper left, and the hot pink one right next to it comes right behind :-) So cute.

Such lovely picks, dear! Love the ones with little pom too.
I've been eyeing on Loopy Mango's Helsinki Hat. However it's nowhere can be found in Jakarta lol.

I love my hats too...I have a running hat from TrailHeads that I wear all the time, and then a cute cap type hat (for lack of a better term) that I will wear if I'm going a little dressier and it's cold. :)

I always regret it when I forget to keep my hat on during these cold days. Besides, I think hats (and caps) are really the ultimate winter accessory!
