Spongellé Beyond Cleansing

Exfoliating is an important step in skincare as it provides many great benefits like improving the texture, tone and softness of your skin while removing dead skin cells. It can also help prevent breakouts by banishing bacteria and improve the results of your skincare products. I exfoliate my face 2 -3 times/week and my body 3 - 4 times/week and I'm always on the lookout for new products so I jumped at the chance to try a few from Spongellé.

About the Brand: Spongellé Beyond Cleansing offers a completely new concept in bathing and showering with products that offer most effective technology, the finest ingredients, and essential touch of luxury. Spongellé's infused bath products were first introduced in 2003 and are 100% USA made.

Product Claims: Spongellé Boxed Flowers are body buffers designed to moisturize, rejuvenate, and restore the skin. Spongellé Pedi-Buffers are are specially formulated for the feet and feature a unique textured side that gently removes dry skin and calluses. The body buffers are infused with extracts of yuzu, edelweiss and vetiver while the pedi buffers contain soothing extracts of arnica, sea kelp and peppermint. The entire collection of buffers have rich moisturizers, gentle cleansers, and unique fragrances.

Packaging: Spongellé products are packaged in colorful slip case gift boxes which are easy to open and showcase the product as well.

Price: The Spongellé Boxed Flower (Fleur en Boite) and the Spongellé Pedi Buffer both retail for $16.

My Impressions of the Body Buffer: The flower shape not only looks cute hanging in the shower but it also makes it easy to hold. The papaya yuzu scent is fruity and pleasant and the buffer feels likes a squishy sponge with a tacky soap-like texture. It doesn't take much to work up a lather and foams up pretty well. The more you wet it, the softer the buffer will get so I would adjust that based on the level of exfoliation I wanted each time. It did a good job both in cleaning and exfoliating. This product is supposed to last for 14+ washes but I can't speak to that since I've only used it for about a week. It's holding up well though. I'm enjoying the experience with it and love that I don't have to use a separate sponge and bodywash. Being a 2 in 1 product makes it so easy to use and I would consider purchasing this Body Buffer again especially since the other scents it comes in like French Lavender, Bulgarian Rose, Coconut Verbena and Ginger Bergamot all sound quite appealing.

My Impressions of the Pedi Buffer: The Pedi Buffer reminds me of another pedi-sponge type product that I've used and like. I wasn't crazy about the Beach Grass scent which is rather strong and sweet. I use the soft side for the tops of my feet and the exfoliating side on my heels and bottoms of my feet. It leaves my feet very soft which is great especially since it's sandal season. I was surprised by how well it actually exfoliates since it doesn't feel abrasive at all. This is a must for summer since it makes having smooth soft feet so simple. The only thing I didn't care for would be the scent but this also comes in Mandarin Mint which sounds like it could be quite nice.

Spongellé products live up to their claims and would make great gifts or a pampering treat to yourself. They're available through the brand's website as well as Anthropologie, Kitson and a number of luxury spas. You can also keep up with the latest from Spongellé on Instagram.

Do you use exfoliating body products? How do they work for you?

I love the shape :-) I use an exfoliating glove in the shower and I really feel that it makes a difference.

Bulgarian rose, yeah! It's flattering to see that a 100% USA brand uses Bulgarian rose in their product. I think that exfoliating is a must for summer too and I'd love to try Spongelle (the name reminded me of SpongeBob). Have a nice day, Rowena! xo

I'm ashamed to say that no I don't use them as often as I should. I actually own a lot of exfoliant type products too and I'm always self-tanning. You'd think I'd wise up bahahaha!

Once in a while I use an exfoliator on my face but I haven't used any on my body for years. These buffers look so cute, I'd use them right away.

They look so cute. Once in awhile I use an exfoliating glove in the shower, I am more of a body scrub girl. Happy hump day, Rowena.

Hi Rowena, they look super cute. I haven't tried an exfoliating sponge yet but I have a few body peelings at home. I have also bought a konjac sponge but haven't tried it yet. Would really love to try both. Happy hump day!

I saw this on Brandbacker and have been wondering if it lives up to its claims so thank you for this review, Rowena. 14+ washes for $16 is actually pretty good and the cute packaging and shape makes this into a really lovely gift too. Definitely checking this out.

I still like using a smooth pumice stone often on my feet for the best results, but I'd love to try the body sponge. It looks so cute! And I am on board with the 2-in-1 concept. Bulgarian Rose sounds interesting! :)

I do use scrubs! They're so important. I like that the product is contained within the sponge. I just worry about germs. LOL Sponges can harbor so much.

Such a cute product!
I'm also using exfoliating products and I love using them.
Though the packaging isn't as cute as this one, they're doing the job too.

But thanks for sharing your thoughts about this brand, so maybe if I spot it one day, I'll definitely give it a try.

Hi Rowena! ..so funny that I was talking about exfoliation on my blog today as well ;) I think all the skin we show during the summer months has us looking for products that will keep it glowing! This is an interesting product and I like the idea of a two-in-one. Exfoliation is something that I do to my face but I sometimes neglect the body/feet. Thanks for sharing!

i love the fact that the soap is already in the sponge...makes it convenient to use. i do exfoliating scrubs, but don't have the actual sponger or loofahs.

Shyscout said...

I need to give this a try. I am the worst at staying on top of exfoliating, but my skin feels so good when I do.

MaysaAndSunshine said...

I am using exfoliating gloves and I thought those were such smart inventions as they work well and are convenient for busy people who do not have a long time to spend in a shower. This products sound good, Rowena. Very interesting that soap is already built in. These will make good gifts too.

I'm using the glove as well! Would love to try the Body Buffer in Coconut Verbena! I've been always a fan of 2 in 1 products, so handy! ;-)
