We Are Knitters for Breast Cancer Awareness

We Are Knitters, Breast Cancer Awareness, Knitting Kit

I was introduced to We Are Knitters at a recent bloggers event where I also got reacquainted with knitting. I first learned to knit some years ago and somehow never quite got past making scarves and for that I blame my short attention span. Anyhow, I now have a renewed interest in getting past scarves. We Are Knitters makes it easy to complete new knitting projects with fully assembled kits that come with everything you need from start to finish. We were supplied with kits for a beginner level Braille Beanie and we commenced knitting our beanies with some expert guidance from an experienced knitter at the event which was really helpful. It had been so long since I last knit that I had some issues with properly controlling the tension on the stitches so I actually had to restart it a few times to get it right. I haven't had much time to work on my hat but I'm hoping to be able to finish it before the end of the year. I got the pretty aquamarine colored yarn and the petite Peruvian wool is really soft and easy to work with.

We Are Knitters, Breast Cancer Awareness, Knitting Kit

In support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, We Are Knitters has created the Solidarity Diva Beanie Kit with 10% of the proceeds going to the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) throughout October. Sadly with the odds that one in eight women may develop breast cancer in her lifetime, most of us either will be touched by someone battling or who has battled the disease. It's really important to promote awareness through education to increase survival rates through early detection and improving treatments and technology.

We Are Knitters, Breast Cancer Awareness, Knitting Kit

The Diva Beanie kit which is $51, is an intermediate level project that includes everything you need including one ball of bubblegum pink 100% Peruvian wool yarn, a set of knitting needles, pattern with directions, a knitter's sewing needle and an embroidered label. It is also available for $36 without the knitting needles.

It is always wonderful to show support through purchases with charitable incentives and what sets this product apart is how meaningful it is since you can cheer up a patient with a gift of this kit or you can knit the hat yourself to give to someone to lift her spirits. A hat is thoughtful and practical especially for those who are dealing with hair loss during chemotherapy treatments.

I think I love this project a lot more than any make-up/cosmetics promotions that companies use mainly to get more profits. This one is so wonderful and heartwarming and you get something really beautiful and almost nurturing at the end. I adore knitting and have made all kinds of things over the years, from scarves and gloves to coats. :) So this is really something I'd enjoy, especially with a cause in mind.

This kit really makes you want to knit! I used to do some when I was a child and my grandma would share her tips with me...

What a great way to support a great campaign! And I had no idea that you know how to knit, learnt something new about you and I'm starting to wonder if I'm the only one who doesn't know how to sew and knit? LOL!

We are knitters sounds like a great site to order from. I love this knitting kit...it is really practical...and how wonderful there is a meaningful message behind it! As you said, a cap or a beanie can be a great present for someone suffering from breast cancer...and a knitting kit can be a lovely gift for a patient. Using knitting to raise awareness about breast cancer is a great idea. It is fantastic that a part of the earrings from this kit goes to national breast cancer organization. It is an important message.....I hope to learn knitting some day:)

I've never been able to knit, not that I've even attempted to try before. I've always admired it though, my mum is a pretty good knitter and an even better at crochet. I think she tried to show me once and I just couldn't co-ordinate my hands!

It's always a kind act to support brands with charitable cause. And with this on hand, you'll have knitted something to keep for yourself while helping women against their battle with breast cancer.
Enjoy it, and have a lovely day!

knitting is something i've never tried, but have seen the result of other people's hard work! i love that the kit comes with everything you need as that is usually my hesitation in starting anything...having to buy all the supplies.

That hat is really cute and its nice money goes to a good cause. I can knit very, very simple things. Nothing as complicated as that hat though. :)

What a wonderful campaign for an important cause! I love this! My daughter knits, thanks to my mom in law. I have tried several times to learn, unsuccessfully, but I think once the kids are out of the house, I may try again. Down the road (hopefully well down the road!), I may want to be knitting sweaters for grandbabies...I always loved those homemade gifts...they were my favorites!
