Did you know that Sephora has it's own monthly subscription beauty box program? It's called Play! by Sephora. Service rolled out to select areas in the States awhile back and they've been slowly expanding around the country. I signed up for the wait list a few months ago. I just received my first beauty box and I'm sharing my initial impressions here.
Play! by Sephora is a beauty box curated by Sephora. It comes in a collectible bag and includes 5 deluxe samples plus a fragrance, a Play! Book with information, tips, and helpful advice and a Play! Pass that can be redeemed in-store for a free beauty tutorial and 50 bonus Beauty Insider points with any product purchase. The monthly cost is $10. This covers shipping but not tax and purchase of the box does qualify towards your Beauty Insider points.
You can subscribe to Play! by Sephora online here. You put your email on a waitlist and once a spot opens you'll be notified to claim your spot and join. This subscription is currently only available in the U.S. and can ship to any address in the contiguous 48 states. When you subscribe, be sure to complete your Play! Profile because it will help products get customized for your beauty concerns.
Atelier Cologne, Orange Sanguine :: A zesty and energizing burst of crushed ripe fruit, plays off sweet blood orange juice against bitter orange peel and sensual notes of geranium.
This scent is a sophisticated and refreshing take on citrus which is quite nice. Atelier Cologne's scents are made using a high concentration of essential oils which I think is great since I love using essential oils in general. Citrus in particular is an effective mood lifter.
Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick, Kimchi :: A handcrafted high pigment lipstick that delivers intense hydration and creamy wear using twelve edible oils.
I'm a fan of Bite Beauty lipsticks. They have a quality formulation that wears well and a nice range of shades. I find this shade which is described as a shocking pink to be a little polarizing though. And it's odd that it's called kimchi since actual kimchi is orangey red in color. As someone who has very full lips and doesn't want to draw any extra attention to them, I tend to avoid really vibrant colors like this. If you happen to like this and will actually use it, let me know in the comments and maybe I'll send it to you :)
Tarte Tarteist Lip Crayon, Latergram :: A two-in-one lip liner that helps prime and line lips for a contoured look and nurtures with vitamin E, mineral pigments and antioxidants.
I generally like lip crayons and products that perform double duty. This is a muted mauve color that I find really pretty and natural and it's definitely more up my speed. It also looks like one of those colors that's universally flattering.
Korres Wild Rose Sleeping Facial :: A lightweight overnight treatment with wild rose oil that addresses uneven skintone while improving skin texture for a brighter, more luminous complexion.
I'm all about brightening skincare and I also like sleeping masks so I was excited to see this product and look forward to trying it. I uncapped it and it does have a strong rose scent which I find lovely but might be off putting for people who aren't fond of the smell of roses.
Origins Maskimizer + Drink Up & Clear Improvement Masks :: An innovative priming mist optimizes skin condition for masking. The charcoal mask deep cleanses while the overnight mask provides intensive moisturizing benefits.
I've tried the Clear Improvement Mask and it's a really good charcoal mask. The Drink Up mask sounds promising as well. I'm most intrigued by the Maskimizer since it claims to improve the spreadability and rinseability of masks while hydrating, soothing, and boosting skin's radiance immediately.
Briogeo Don't Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Mask :: An intensive weekly treatment made with naturally derived ingredients to restore essential hydration and enhance hair’s resilience to protect against future damage.
My favorite hair mask is actually straight up coconut oil but this hair treatment which contains argan and avocado oils sounds nice and nourishing as well. It's free of parabens and silicones which I try to avoid.
Overall I was pretty satisfied with my first Play! by Sephora Box. There was a good mix of products and brands with only one dud. Skincare always excites me more so the assortment of facial masks made me happy. And you can't really beat the price of $10 considering the value of the products. With Sephora's prominent position in the beauty industry, the types of samples they can procure should be fairly impressive. Of course there are drawbacks. You can't choose any of your samples and there is currently no way to skip a month. I'm already looking forward to next month's box which is The Minimalists. Sephora gives you a little video peek at the month ahead and they also provide monthly Unboxing Videos where you can learn more about the products themselves as well as how to use them. You can sign up for Play! by Sephora online here. You can also learn more about the subscription by visiting their FAQ page.
What do you think of these products? Is this a subscription you would try?

I vaguely remember reading about their beauty box. I really like Sephora and I think that USD 10 is a fair price to receive the goodies you did.

How cool! I really love the idea and the items they send! Do you think that they are going to do it as well in Germany??

Love the bag and the lipstick thanks for informing us how it works.
Wish it was available also here in Italy since is an amazing service and I love Sephora. The stuff you found is all very cool and appealing, would be curious to try Bite lipstick, very lovely! Kisses Rowena! xo
I'm amazed I hadn't heard or seen of this beauty subscription box before, it both looks and sounds amazing! As always, completely in love with your clean and crisp photography Rowena :)

Man....you guys in the States everything first! :P This would actually be a box I'd be willing to give a go because Sephora has access to a lot of brands. That Bite and Origins samples are ones I'd be really interested in. Thanks for this heads up, Rowena! As usual, my wallet does not thank you....bwahaha!:D
It is totally a subscription I would try if it were available outside the US.

Rowena, you got in on it at a great time! They quickly revamped their program. People were cancelling there subscriptions left & right before (because the samples were blah). So now they have BETTER samples to try! I think it's awesome now.

I love Bite Beauty lipsticks too and that shade is right up my alley! I would be shameless and hope you'll pick me to send the lipstick too. LOL! I wish this subscription would expand to Canada soon, I am itching to try it.

I didn't know Sephora had a beauty box...and at only 10 dollars it is a surprisingly affordable one.
I see a lot of lovely products here. That lip crayon seems great. I didn't heard about Bite Beauty lipsticks before, but what a fun name for a brand. You know, you're not the first person with full lips whom I heard say she prefers more natural lipsticks. I like natural looking lipsticks too but I also like classical red (even if I'm not sure does it work on me).
I have never tried using coconut oil for hair but I heard it is good. I might give it a try!...btw argan oil hair mask must be pretty good.
So many lovely products. The bag is so cute and the fuchsia lipstick is so beautiful also, because I love creamy lipsticks. I hope this Sephora subscription will be available in Europe soon!:)
Too bad this isn't in Canada. I definitely think it's worth the price.

I've been thinking about trying this! The price is right, and it looks like a fun way to sample products. Love the Bite lipstick, too. Such a great color :)

I'm the last person to know about Play or maybe I just forgot about it? The rose facial looks really cool and I love brightening products too.
Ooh Kimchi looks really cute! I have full lips but sometimes like a fun shade like that!

$10 for s beauty box by Sephora is very nice, and I think it is also a good bargain. The products look nice, especially that lipstick you don't like. Glad to hear you are satisfied with this box, Rowena. It will be interesting to read about the next Sephora subscription box.
Oh I just adore that lipstick! :)

just stopping by to say hi!
I didn't know that Sephora has a subscription box, but why not, since many brands are doing it. It seems like a really affordable price point for what is included as well. I like the Korres brand, so I'm wondering how the Wild Rose Sleeping Facial will work.
FASHION TALES
