Song Hye Kyo & Song Joong Ki Are Married

It's official! Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo are married now. The star couple were wed on October 31 in a private ceremony at the Shilla Hotel's Yeong Bin Gwan in Seoul. Both of them were outfitted Dior. Joong Ki was dapper in a made-to-order peak lapel black tuxedo while Hye Kyo stunned in a custom ivory Dior wedding gown featuring a princess cut silhouette and train with delicate lace embellishments around the neckline. Her hair and makeup was both understated and elegant.

The 250 guests in attendance included a who's who of the couple's celebrity friends including Kim Hee Sun, Song Yoon Ah, Choi Ji Woo, Lee Kwang Soo, Park Bo Gum, Yoo Ah In, Ok Joo Hyun, Cha Tae Hyun, Yoo Jae Suk, Hwang Jung Min, So Ji Sub, Park Bo Young, Park Hyung Shik, Kim Ji Won, Kim Min Seok, Jo Sung Ha, Lee Mi Yeon among others.

It was reported that their vows included the promise "We met when we shined the brightest. We’ll remain each other’s true love even if we lose everything." Close friends Lee Kwang Soo and Yoo Ah In shared words of congratulations during the ceremony while Singer Ok Joo Hyun serenaded them with "A Whole New World" from Aladdin which roused the couple's emotions. Park Bo Gum accompanied Park Hyung Sik on the piano in a touching performance during the reception as the couple and their guests celebrated and danced. 

Fans from around the globe chimed in on Twitter to congratulate the SongSongCouple on their wedding as #SongSongCoupleWedding trended #1 worldwide during the time of their wedding. There was particular interest from Chinese fans with the wedding being searched for about 160 million times as of 6PM on Tuesday. It was reported that Song Hye Kyo and Song Joong Ki turned down a 15 billion won (approximately $13.4 million USD) offer for permission to live stream the event but a few Chinese media outlets flew drone cameras over the venue to livestream the private event illegally. They didn't let it ruin their big day but it still sucks. Their agency has announced that they will not take legal action since their wedding is meant to be a happy event.

Perhaps the sweetest personal account came from Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi, a close friend of Song Hye Kyo who flew in just to attend the wedding. She noted on her Weibo that the ceremony wasn't lavish and devoid of any pretensions and sponsorships. All she could see was how attentive Joong Ki was to Hye Kyo the entire time.  He kept warming her hands when she seemed cold, he fixed her hair when the wind blew and he got emotional a few times while reading his vows.  He may be a few years younger, but it's obvious how deeply he loves her. She was happy to see Kyo marrying for love and it was all so simple and heartwarming. Honestly, simplicity is the best when it comes to love. 

Ziyi could not have said it any better. Weddings do not be ostentatious and over the top, they should be a celebration of love. I'm not surprised at all that these two opted for such a low key ceremony.  I've been captivated by Song Hye Kyo and Song Joong Ki together ever since I began watching Descendants of the Sun and suspected that they had become a real life couple early on from their actions towards one another. Their love story is real and they've been following their hearts the whole time. It's really refreshing in an age when celebrities do anything and everything just for attention.
