Eye Candy : Song Hye Kyo For Elle

Chaumet couldn't have made a better choice when they selected Song Hye Kyo as an ambassador for the  luxury heritage jewelry brand's "Grace and Character” campaign citing that “She will personify the elegance and spirit of the House among other remarkable women.” The actress who is known for her grace and strong character as well as her outstanding beauty has certainly been dealt much undeserved criticism throughout her career which she has always endured with a quiet dignity and strength. Hye Kyo who recently appeared in the hit melodrama Encounter opposite Park Bo Gum should have been celebrating the show's successful run and instead she had to hear it from  people who apparently can't distinguish acting from real life and felt it was inappropriate for her to act in a romance because she is married. Like what? Since when is this a rule and why does it only apply to her? I watched Encounter. It was a very sweet love story with a positive message. Song Hye Kyo and Park Bo Gum so flawlessly embodied their roles that I couldn't imagine anyone else playing Cha Soo Hyun and Kim Jin Hyuk. There are married actresses out there with children who've performed in risqué roles who have never received any such criticism. I only mention this because I just don't understand why someone who is genuinely talented, low key and humble is constantly maligned while countless overrated attention seekers are given a pass.

Anyway Hye Kyo is currently simultaneously gracing the pages of both Elle Korea and Elle Hong Kong and the editorial is breathtakingly stunning. She is modeling pieces from Chaumet's Josephine Imperial Aigrette Collection. Founded in Paris in 1780, the house of Chaumet was notably the official jeweler to Napoléon and Empress Josephine. The understated and feminine designer fashions really complement the exquisite jewelry. The white and peach Dior dresses are gorgeous and she cuts such a striking figure in the sculptural Givenchy dress on the cover. What I love most is her soft hair and minimal makeup which looks so fresh, youthful and luminous. I've actually been making the switch to more Sulwhasoo products because her beauty is truly aspirational.
