Dine Out : 10 Corso Como

10 Corso Como, 10 Corso Como Review, 10 Corso Como New York

Housed in the expansive space that was once the Fulton Fish Market, 10 Corso Como sits in a prime spot amidst the cobblestone lined streets of NYC's historic Seaport District. Designed as an all in one dining, shopping and art experience under one roof, this concept store was conceived by former fashion editor and publisher Carla Sozzani with it's name coming from the Milan address of it's original store.

Helmed by  Chef Jordan Frosolone, the restaurant component, 10 Corso Como Restaurant & Café  serves Mediterranean fare inspired by traditional Italian cooking alongside an extensive wine program showcasing over 100 Italian, French and local wines from smaller, boutique vineyards. The outdoor space includes a long shaded patio area and the indoor space is segmented into a series of circular dining rooms. The décor is a combination of sleek and elegant with artistic touches. Curved leather banquettes and padded leather seats pair with tables adorned with a paint splattered effect.

We've been meaning to drop in for awhile and finally got around to it during this recent summer restaurant week. The meal commenced with their house made focaccia bread which was soft and tasty. I'm low carb and generally don't eat bread and I had to stop myself from eating too much.  For starters, we ordered the Crudo delle Alpi - raw arctic char, fennel, capers, lemon and Polpettine di Carne - beef meatballs, tomato, mozzarella, basil. Both were well prepared though a little overseasoned. Our entreés were the Pasta Cacio e Pepe and Branzino alla Griglia. The Cacio e Pepe was a little disappointing considering it's one of 10 Corso Como's specialties. We didn't mind the denseness of the pasta but it was tad too al dente which made it excessively chewy and the sauce was lacking in richness and too peppery.  I actually make better cacio e pepe at home. The fish was bland and overcooked.

Given it's unique concept and prime location, they could do so much better with the food that just fails to impress especially for the type of prices they charge. The service was cordial and attentive and the modern space is cool with comfortable seating but that won't be enough for us to come back. As for the store component, it is a high end boutique that sells eclectic gifts, books and housewares alongside a selection of fashion forward, luxury designer goods from brands like  Prada, Gucci, Dior, Balenciaga and Comme des Garcons. The installation at the art gallery was a photography exhibition.

Totally off topic, but I once has a lipstick called Corso Como and I never knew why - now I get where that came from!

The space and decor is lovely and I imagine it must be huge! What a pity the food falls short though!

Sorry to hear the food was not all satisfactory but thanks for letting us know! The new Jean-Georges restaurant was not all that either although the food was the best part of the experience, which is why we want to give it another try. I have to say I haven't been really satisfied with these new fancier establishments lately. Maybe for them, we are just locals who have become too clever. ;)

Wish you a great weekend! <3

Oh this does indeed look like a place any self respecting New Yorker should at least check out. Though what a shame the food did not impress. Always a disappointment. And yes at higher end prices you do expect to be wowed.

Higher prices are not a guarantee of great food,so I have learned. It is nice that this restaurant offers local wines and has chic decor. I like Mediterranean food and a restaurant that focus on the Italian is just my kind of tea, but too bad about the food itself. It's a shame that the dishes weren't much to your liking. Generally speaking, the food does look appetizing on the photos (expect for that pasta, it just doesn't look right, maybe it is what you said too much al dente) but if it doesn't taste good, better not to take second chances.

It looks like such a beautiful spot to eat! What a shame you weren't impressed by the food, obviously somewhere you go to enjoy the atmosphere rather than the food, haha!

Hope that you are having a lovely weekend :)
