LA, New York, Chicago, migrating to the other side of the world, no matter the place you're considering, you have some decisions to make. Choosing to make a new start in a new place isn't always a simple decision but with some careful thought about what you are moving for, you could find that you choose somewhere completely different than you expected.
Checking out your options and getting some quotes from MyBekins.com can have a big influence on where you decide to live. It’s not just about the house you live in, but the area. So, what do you need to consider before you go somewhere completely new?
The Size
Almost every kid from a small town dreams of moving to the city, and the reverse also holds true. We always want what we don't know and crave the adventure of it. You need to consider not only the size of the place you want to live (hello, NYC), but the type of home you want to live in. You can’t find a sprawling house on a couple of acres in the middle of the city; you’d need to compromise on that. You would also have to consider whether you’d get the connected community in a city as well. Could you live in a small town? You should go online and look at the city population lists to see how big or small a place to live really is; it’s important!
The Weather
Do you want to live in Washington State, where you get mostly rain? If you’re a fan of the smell of greenery and you don't mind living in perpetual drizzle, then you’ll find it somewhere that makes you happy. However, if you crave dry weather and the heat of the sun, you might pack up and move somewhere else entirely, like Brisbane in Australia. A little further to get the right weather is always the right thing to do. If you can’t do constant of either extreme, pick a temperate place to live with defined seasons and you should be good to go.
The Lifestyle
Do you want culture? A Smorgasbord of language? Activities? Then you need to consider the lifestyle you want VS the place you live. Clearly, where you currently live isn’t doing it for you or you wouldn't be leaving, so consider the type lifestyle you're seeking and go from there. You may not always take advantage of the opportunities the town you choose can provide but that may change. Plenty of people grow up in London, for example, and have never been to see the changing of the guard. Embrace the lifestyle and options in the place you choose to live, and do as much research as much as you can about your area of choice before you pack up and go.
The Cost
One final factor to consider is the cost of living. No matter where you live, it needs to be affordable or there is no point in going there in the first place as you could end up running out of money and would only have to pack up all over again and start all over again.
