How To Add Some Color to Your Winter Look

How To Add Some Color to Your Winter Look

Winter can often dull and grey. While there are some bright days, dark dreary days with grey skies often come to mind when we imagine a typical winter day. Our priority at this time of the year, especially if we spend a lot of time outdoors, is often keeping warm. We layer up with base layers and protective outerwear to do what we can to stay as warm and dry as possible. To make this easier, many of us stick to a wardrobe that matches the weather, dark, safe, and distinctly lacking in color.

But adding some color to your winter wardrobe can be a great idea. It can stop you from getting bored with your fashion choices as well as improve your mood. Wearing bright clothes can make you feel happier and more confident. It can even enhance the mood of everyone that you come into contact with. So, here are some of the best ways to add some color to your winter look.

Invest in a Bright Raincoat
If there’s a time when you really need a splash of color, it’s on those horrible wet days when the sun never shines that make you just hate being outdoors. A bright raincoat, in a shade that you love, can cheer up any outfit and make a dull day brighter.

Dye Your Hair
Colors aren’t just confined to clothes. What about your hair? When you need a mood boost, and you are bored with how you look, there’s nothing easier or more effective than changing your hair color. Even a temporary shade that’s not too much different from your usual color can be a nice departure.

Mix Your Accessories Up
Winter is an excellent time for accessories. You might wear hats, gloves, and scarves every day, and you are bound to be accompanied by an umbrella at least some of the time. Use these accessories to add color and make a style statement. Oversized scarves and different type of hats can be a fantastic way to transform a boring outfit.

Be Bold with Makeup
Makeup is such an easy way to add a quick sweep of color to any look. Colorful eyes, a flourish of rosy tint on your cheeks, some trendy highlighter on your brow and cheekbones, and a bold red across your lips are all great ways to add some fun. Take a look at this website for some colorful makeup options.

Try Colored Tights
Okay you love that black dress and wearing it with black leather boots/ Well that’s cool. But, how about adding color to some of these winter favorites by a pair of fun colored tights?

Add Colored Knits
Chunky knits are a big favorite at this time of year. They look fantastic while keeping you warm and cozy. They're also a great place to use color and pattern. Look for some brighter knits than you would usually wear, or try color blocking or stripes for a pop.

Take Risks
If you always wear the same colors, you might want to start slow with different shades. But, don’t worry about taking some risk which are worth it if they make you smile.

Add a Statement Bag
A large, colored tote, shoulder bag, or backpack can be trendy, practical, and a great way to spice up any outfit.

Very good tips to add to the winter, where I live the usual is to see a lot of black or gray, but it is always good to add color, to my personal day I am happy, I am also using more makeup these months, because the weather I allow it, a scarf of a more striking color also works for me.
