Getting dressed in the colder months can be a challenge and when the temperatures are frigid. I embrace long down jackets because I absolutely hate to be cold. They're easy to put on and to take off, keep me cozy and warm, and best of all I'm set with just a cute cashmere sweater underneath rather than a ton of cumbersome layers. I personally prefer high quality technical jackets which are fully insulated and designed to withstand winter elements and there are plenty of cute choices like this one as well as styles that offer a slim silhouette.
When I wear my long down coat, it's about staying warm but I don't think that necessarily means having to sacrifice fashion completely for function. There are ways to style a down coat that can make it look fashionable. The first outfit provides much needed warmth and her shimmery silver boots make a chic statement. Accessories are a fantastic way to infuse a touch of personal style. I love adding a colorful hat or scarf or some fun sock or tights paired with cool sneakers or boots. As far as outfits, you can lean into the sportiness of a down coat or elevate it with a more polished and dressed up look as illustrated in the second photo which strikes up visual interest with the color play as it marries style with function.
