Current Mood

Is it just me or does this year seem to be simultaneously going by so fast and dragging at the same time. At least after a brisk spring we're finally getting some warmer weather in the city. Just hope it'll stick around for awhile before the temperatures swelter. We already got some summer like weather this week.

I met Ina Garten at an event many years ago and we had a delightful conversation about cooking and our husbands. I liked her show and have tried a number of her recipes. This guacamole salad is one of my fave dishes ever. Known as the Barefoot Contessa, this memoir chronicles her evolution from a nuclear energy analyst in Washington, D.C., to an iconic culinary figure, detailing the pivotal moments that shaped her career and personal life. Garten manages to balance a sense of self-reflection, humor and vulnerability with storytelling, sharing intimate details about her difficult childhood marked by strict expectations and emotional challenges that fueled by her desire for independence and creativity.

Watching...
Karma is a suspense thriller that examines how fate, choices and personal struggles connect people in unexpected and sometimes painful ways. The limited series follows six characters who are all dealing with problems. They all become entangled as they're pulled into a web of consequences tied to their past actions reflecting the concept of karma. We're just on the second episode and so far it is intense and riveting.

Recommending....
We finished this show awhile ago and honestly it will be with us for awhile as it is is easily the best thing I've watched this year. Everything about the way When Life Gives You Tangerines is executed from the writing, to the direction, to the acting, to the visual production is so highly impressive. In these uncertain times where humanity is flailing, the story told here that is so profound in its humanity and compassion was very emotionally resonant and touching.

Listening to...
Khalil Fong who was one of my favorite musical artists passed away in February and his music has been on heavy rotation on my playlists ever since. Khalil was a prolific composer/performer who proved that good music can transcend cultures with his music - a mix of soul, jazz, R&B, and poetry sung in Mandarin and English. I've been singing along to Jay Chou and Khalil songs to practice my Mandarin. This is one of his best English songs IMHO.

Eating...
Broccoli is my favorite vegetable. We eat it at our house all the time and I'm always looking for new ways to prep it. This creamy broccoli dish is inspired by the popular Marry Me Chicken and features broccoli coated in a velvety, sun-dried tomato–infused sauce with a hint of garlic and parmesan cheese. It's perfect as a tasty side dish and this recipe is so simple to prepare.

Recovering with...
I workout 6 -7 days a week as part of my morning routine and as much as I prioritize exercise, I also prioritize diet and recovery to optimize my results. My recovery routine includes an arsenal of tools. I use my ReAthlete Air C Pro Compression Massager and lay on my HigherDOSE Infrared PEMF Go Mat every day and I also regularly use a foam roller,   Theragun massage gun and CBD balm. This magical bath bomb which combines 250 mg. of CBD with essential oils for maximum pain relief has become an integral component of my weekly detox bath, It does wonders for my sore muscles while also lifting away stress and offering mental clarity.

Psyched About..
My 11 Line Abs
I started my fitness journey to improve my health and wellness and it's seriously one of the best things I've ever done and still continue to dedicate myself to. I'm actively trying to build more muscle and I wasn't necessarily looking to get sculpted but my husband recently pointed out that my 11 line abs are really taking shape and I'm a little proud because they are the result of hard work.

Shopping with my...
As someone who lives in the city and constantly needs to buy groceries, I decided to upgrade my schlep with this stylish shopping cart made of gapless polypropylene that has a zippered top, and folds down super flat for storage. I'd been coveting one for awhile and when I was able to score a medium one at half price, I leapt at the chance. I haven't really used it much yet but I know it will be super useful especially as I'm trying to sell off more of my stuff.
