I'm definitely not one of those people who revels in winter since I absolutely cannot stand being cold but I can still appreciate the unique beauty of the season. This magical Harper's Bazaar UK editorial lensed by Alexandra Sophie that finds a resplendently attired Joséphine Le Tutour cavorting about a seemingly enchanted forest is definitely the stuff of fairytales and the type of winter one can only dream about! So how is winter treating you?

Maybelline Spring 2017

Maybelline Review, Maybelline The Colossal Big Shot Express Mascara, Maybelline The 24K Nudes Palette, Maybelline Eye Studio Master Precise Ink Pen Eyeliner

I've been asked before why I don't feature drugstore products more and I'm not really sure. I have to admit I don't use a ton of them in my beauty routine but I pretty much always go with drugstore buys for mascara and eyeliner. Since these products have such a short life span, I generally don't feel comfortable splurging on them knowing that they have to tossed in a matter months. Maybelline New York recently sent me a few products from their best-selling Eye Studio collection of performance eye products designed to master the latest runway eye trends. I was excited to see that it included their recently launched Big Shot Mascara and Master Precise Eyeliner as well as their new 24K Nudes Palette. By the way, how cool is it that Manny Gutierrez was just announced as a new face of the brand!

Quality Over Quantity

Choosing Quality Over Quantity, How Quality Over Quantity Can Make You Happier, Less is More

Most people think of quality over quantity in terms of things but it can/should apply to all aspects of life.  The inherent value and sense of this principle is fairly obvious but somehow quantity still seems to be perceived as having more value in our society at large even though having more doesn't always translate into happiness. Sometimes less is more.

Choosing quality over quantity doesn't necessarily mean that you're choosing less over more but rather making better choices that ultimately lead to more satisfaction and fulfillment and a better quality of life. I've applied this several aspects of my life already and it has really opened up a path to a better sense of contentment and wellness overall.

Through My Lens : Recently On Instagram

January 4, 2017

A few highlights of the past month as seen on Instagram which serves as my unofficial food diary and love letter to NYC. I also post quick reviews here and there. The last month of the last year was a busy one and as much as I was looking forward to the year ending, I also didn't want to see it end for a number of reasons but now that 2017, we get a fresh slate of sorts which is always good. For more, click on over to Instagram and do follow if you like what you see...  A few IRL friends recently told me that they've been stalking my feed for food recs and they've actually been dining at the places that I've talked about. That like totally made my day!

  • NYC has no shortage of beautiful Christmas trees during the holidays but one of my favorites is the tree at One Beacon Court which looks even more majestic when fully illuminated at night.
  • Loving this range of Eva NYC hair products which are now available at Old Navy.
  • We finally got around to dining at Sushi of Gari in Tribeca and their Tuna of Gari is TDF! We want to go back and try the omakase next time.
  • Thanks to Allure for sending one of their beauty boxes for the holidays. The Tatcha Indigo Silk Body Butter is amazing!
  • When I'm uptown in December, I always make sure to stop by the Time Warner Center to take in the Holiday Under the Stars light show.
  • Saturday Skin is a new Korean beauty discovery. I showed incredible restraint during their sale and just ordered this Time Freeze Essence to get to know the brand. The packaging is fabulous!
  • This Pizza À La Truffe Noire was one of the things I tried at a fantastic lunch hosted by Bagatelle NYC and yes it did taste as good as it looks.
  • These bath and body treats from Aveda are great because they're as comforting as they're invigorating.
  • New York always seems to at it's most magical just when the sun rises or sets.

When To Toss Your Makeup

January 2, 2017
Makeup Expiration Dates, When To Throw Away Your Makeup

Happy New Year! May 2017 bring you all good health, infinite happiness, lovely surprises and many new & fun adventures! I hope everyone enjoyed their holidays. I know I did and it was really great to unplug, unwind and also GSD! With my husband's help, I completed a home project that involved major re-organization and certain upgrades and transitions. This was as much about improving our daily quality of life as much as continuing down a path of wellness and living with intention.

I had downsized my makeup stash quite a bit already but I went all out and finished the process last month. A few items may have initially been harder to part with because the packaging was really pretty or because they were hardly used. I've always been mindful about tossing my mascaras every 3 months or so but as I was cleaning, I started thinking about some of the other products which I've been less vigilant about. All makeup products do in fact have expiration dates and will go bad. In time, products can reformulate and stop working effectively or they can cause irritations and infections due to bacteria buildup. Ewww! So even though it may be a drag to keep track of how old your beauty products are, it is important to do so for both your health and the health of your skin.
