I clean out my closet twice a year and with this particular spring cleaning I've been a little more discriminating than usual as there have been a number of items I've held onto for awhile. Some pieces are like rediscovered treasures which I'm happily wearing again but there are also some things I probably won't due to fit or style. I've sold designer pieces and things in good or like new condition through Thredup and I also donated two bags to Goodwill. It feels liberating to purge and free up some room. I've also determined that I'll be shopping my own closet from now on and if I add anything, it will probably be something classic that I can still wear in the future. Some of my favorite pieces now are like 6 - 8 years old.
The title of this flowchart is a little explicit but the the advice is practical and useful. When's the last time you cleaned out your closet?
Happy Memorial Day to my friends in the US today. Let us be thankful as we honor and remember those who bravely made the ultimate sacrifice for our country and for those who still serve.

This is genius!!!! I am SO using this tomorrow! I am not kidding....I will be propping up my computer to this page so I can start the process! Thanks for sharing...and it's funny too! Have a great day tomorrow Rowena! Nicole xo
I've actually been pretty good lately about cleaning my closet. It helps that I have a small one! :D Still, I should have this chart handy.
so helpful! :) I wish i had the motivation to do a major cleanup

Morning Rowena! Oh well, I did it when the winter started but still have to do the proper one for the upcoming summer! But everytime I do it, it makes me feel well and less stressed. I usually keep all the stuff I wear and if I didnt put on the last 2 years I throw it away, I tend to have the only things I need though so there isnt a huge cleaning everytime. One things wish I had though, more space!:) Have a lovely week! xo
I love this! It's pretty much my thought pattern when cleaning out my closet, but on paper, haha.
Very cool, it's really interesting!!!
Happy new week doll!!!

LOL! Love the flow chart! I had a major clean out last year for the move and currently am slowly buying season appropriate pieces. It's a long and painful process though, I'm still trying to learn what is right/wrong and for what weather.

I regularly try to clean my closet. The majority of my clothes are donated but I try to sell designer items if possible.

I don't always follow these rules (for sentimental reasons) but they totally make sense for a closet clean up!

I must admit, last time I did it was back in 2006 or so (took a dozen of items to the charity shop).... I buy so very few things that I still wear the ones from 10-15 years ago. :)
I need to do this but I know I'd never end up sticking to it! I keep so much junk :(

This flow chart is great...I try to organize my closet well, but it is not my strong point so I do some kind of cleaning every few months. I think there would be no need for it, if it was better organized. Anyhow, I always feel better when I do it.
I love vintage pieces so I try to hang on to clothes, but at the same time I don't buy clothes often. On average I buy only a few clothing items during the course a year...I also try to shop my closet!
Funny, I just cleaned out my wardrobe on the weekend!
I need this chart very helpful
I've seen this chart again. It is so freaking helpful!
We always end up with so many clothes we don't wear!

That flowchart is awesome, and I love Thredup!
love it! i have been more active about cleaning out my closet! i just did so again. and donating to goodwill and using thredup has been awesome for me!
I'll admit, the explicit title made me giggle - ultimately, this is a great flow chart! I also clean out my wardrobe twice a year and funnily enough, my next 'culling' is happening this week :)

Love the flow chart :) I cleaned out my closet a while back, and it was indeed liberating. No more hoping that this or that will come back in style because I'm too sentimental to throw it away. It was nice to be able to see what I have in my closet, helps getting dressed easier and faster in the morning, lol!
I clean out my closet twice a year too Rowena! It really helps manage everything. This system REALLY helps! My closet is so much more manageable now. I have a lot of neutrals in my closet. And a lot of pieces work with other things so I can mix and match. It really saves you money when you purchase quality classic pieces and items.

I recently cleaned out my closet, but to be honest I don't do it often. And btw it's a good advise to donate clothes, but I always think they are too worn to give them to someone. Otherwise, I think it's really refreshing doing this once in a while. I feel lighter and definitely my closet feels so. This post was a good reminder.
Gosh, wouldnt we all benefit from a good closet clean out! Thank you for sharing this awesome diagram!
