Wow I can't believe it's May already! Where is this year going? A few highlights from the past month as seen on Instagram which serves as my unofficial food diary and love letter to NYC. I also post quick reviews here and there. I generally try to keep the content unique so it's not just a bunch of photos from here. You can see more on Instagram and do follow if you like what you see...
- After what seemed like a never ending winter, the city is finally starting to bloom. Not so great for those with allergies but it sure is a treat for the eyes.
- Fish tacos are my favorites and the ones at Lalito are pretty good. I remember when my neighborhood had no good options for Mexican food and that has all changed now.
- A David Bowie tribute has taken over the Broadway Lafayette subway station and it is glorious! A collaboration between Spotify and the Brooklyn Museum, this tribute speaks to key moments in the late music legend's New York City history. The station is significant because it is part of the neighborhood where he lived for over two decades.
- Because I'm a regular home cook of Chinese food, I tend to be particular about it when I have it at restaurants. Tomorrow in the Financial District is the real deal when it comes to authentic Chinese home cooking. We especially like the pig ear in chili oil and mapo tofu.
- This cleanser and moisturizer set from Evenprime have been a welcome addition to my husband's skincare routine. The Moisturizer is an ingenious multi-function product that acts as a toner, serum and moisturizer in one. It works well and is such a timesaver.
- Still loving poke and the gorgeous poke bowls at Chikarashi. Excited about their new location in Fidi. It's never been a better time to live in downtown Manhattan.
- Believe it or not I actually took this photo in the Second Avenue subway station in the middle of the day. It's usually full of people. You just got wait for the right moment y'know.
- Had the most amazing meal at Yoon Haeundae Galbi. Their short ribs are prepared with a Haeundae Cut, a special technique that was invented by the owner's grandfather to tenderize even the toughest of meats. It was delicious!
- Cherry blossoms and the Flatiron Building make for such a lovely sight.

How I wish our city would do something like that David Bowie tribute...so awesome, chingu! And love the look of that food from Tomorrow and that poke bowl...now, I'm craving that! :P
I wish you'll share more of your Chinese recipes, Rowena. I'm slowly trying to cook new dishes but there are so many variety out there that I get lost on what to try.

I'm struggling with allergies too, but at the same time I'm really happy about the flowers. I guess I just love flowers so much. Beautiful photographs, thank you for sharing.
