The Best Things About Autumn

Best Things About Autumn, Best Things About Fall, Ten Things to Love about Fall, Ten Things to Love about Autumn, Reasons To Love Fall

As much as I always talk about how I don't want summer to end, I do pretty much get over it once we kick it into October. I mean I'm seriously not a fan of sweating so that's one big reason I should be happy. The thing is I really do enjoy autumn especially once I get adjusted to it.  It is a time when everything transitions which can truly be a feast for the senses. This always gets me thinking about whether spring or autumn is my favorite season so I made a list of the best things about autumn.

"Autumn... the year's last, loveliest smile."
William Cullen Bryant

1. The Weather
True fall weather when it's cool enough to throw on a light jacket but not cold enough to wear a coat is the absolute best and it never lasts quite long enough.

2. The Colors
Those resplendent reds, oranges and yellows are beautiful and they make everything around them look better too.

3. The Sunsets
Those fiery orange Autumn sunsets are quite a marvel to behold.

4. The Air
The crisp autumn air tinged with a slight chill in the mornings is so refreshing.

5. The Smells
There's just something about the way rain smells in fall that's just better than any other time of the year.

6. The Clothing
As much as I enjoy summer dresses, I always look forward to wearing cozy cashmere sweaters, jackets, boots and getting creative with my layering again.

7. The Food
Root vegetables and leafy greens are back in season and it's time for roasts, stews and hot pot again. Okay we never stopped with the hot pot. We just did it with the AC turned on in the summer.

8. The Television
This is the time when all the good shows come back and This Is Us is making me cry every week again.

9. Spending Time Indoors
I'm a homebody at heart and there's no better time to stay in, light some candles, drink hot tea and snuggle on the couch. I also look forward to more baths.

10. A Fresh Start
With each new season is the opportunity to begin anew.

So I still can't decide if I prefer spring or fall but I'm gonna revel in the current season for as long as possible. What are some things you enjoy about autumn?

  3. I wholeheartedly agree! There's nothing like fall air and just a light layering. It's certainly a time to wind down and renew as well. If only we had apple picking here!

  9. Even though it's spring here in Australia, I agree these are great things about autumn! It's been a bit cold and wet so far but it does mean I get to layer a little more, one of my favourite things about autumn as I love cosy scarves! :)

Hope that you are having a good week :)

  10. Spring is my favourite season, but thanks for reminding me about what I love in autumn! I do love the sunrises and sunsets, the cauliflower, broccoli, pumpkins, and cabbage, and watching the squirrels, chipmunks and rabbits. I like it when there are good new TV shows / new episodes to watch, and choices in clothing to layer. I'd almost forgotten about my blue denim jacket and my trenchcoat. Thanks for the reminder about how good baths feel too.

  12. It's tough between fall and spring. Both have equally wonderful colours blooming everywhere. I love them equally along with winter. I'll always despise summer. Too uncomfortable for me. I love to layer clothing and the rest of the year I find I have more options and fun with fashion. That said I live in an environment that doesn't snow in winter and I can virtually go out in a tee and jacket and be fine. Cold, but manageable. lol.

  13. I also love this time of year. Summer is often too hot for me so I very much appreciate the cooler weather but not so cool that it's too chilly to go outside. The clothing and foods are my favorite!

  14. Love Autumn! If only S'pore has four seasons too. As much as I love your new template, I'm still trying to figure out how to go to your latest post; there's no date indication on your homepage..........
