Dine Out : Blank Slate Coffee and Kitchen

Blank Slate, Blank Slate Coffee and Kitchen Review, Blank Slate Review, Blank Slate NYC, Blank Slate Midtown

My first experience with Blank Slate Coffee + Kitchen was at their original NoMad location. I was pleased to see that they opened up another one in Midtown East where I met up with a former colleague for lunch recently. The bright and airy cafe and coffee shop has a casual yet cozy vibe with plenty of seating. The menu has a healthy focus that includes gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan fare amongst the range of breakfast options as well as sandwiches and salads. Their beverages includes a selection of artisanal coffees and teas alongside craft beer and wine.

Blank Slate operates through a dining format where you order and pay at the counter and are given a number which you place on a table of your choosing and your food and drinks are then brought out to you. We shared an Avocado Caprese salad with mixed greens, fresh mozzarella, tomatoes, avocado, red onion, homemade croutons, fresh basil and an herb vinaigrette and a Rustic Chicken Sandwich with  goat cheese, sundried tomatoes, avocado, greens, balsamic glaze on ciabatta bread. Both options featured a harmonious combination of ingredients and tasted fresh and well prepared. My Rose Matcha Latte was as pretty as it was tasty. The rose petals imparted a subtle scent and flavor but they were mainly there for aesthetics. I forgot to ask for no ice but they didn't skimp on the matcha and didn't load up on the ice like a lot of other places. My friend's hibiscus tea was cool and refreshing. All of the staff which we interacted with were cheerful and friendly. This is a really cute and solid neighborhood spot and they have free wifi. Now if only we had a Blank Slate in the downtown area...

Oh my gosh! That salad looks so awesome, chingu! I order salads a lot in restaurants (aging has not been good to my tummy and salads are the only safe choice for me sometimes:P) This restaurant looks right up my alley. They should open a branch in TO!

Black Slate Coffee & Kitchen looks like a great place. The food looks yummy and it is great that their service is so friendly and cheerful. It is also good they don't go overboard on ice, too much ice in any drink is never healthy.

Blank Slate Coffee & Kitchen sounds like an interesting place to dine. I like hibiscus, it's amazing especially we drink it iced with cinnamon. It's been crazy this week, plus I just started a new position at work. I hope the rest of your week is lovely. Take care, Rowena! x/Madison
