When you can't control what's happening

In times like these when it feels like there is so much beyond our control, the best thing we can really do is to focus on what we can control. For me one of the biggest things is just coming to terms with the severity of the situation. I'm fighting anxiety by trying to stay positive and telling myself that this is a transient event and it won't last forever. And I'm doing my part by observing NYC's stay-at-home order which had to be enacted because people here just couldn't help themselves. This constraint isn't ideal but it's one that we will have to live with for as long as it takes. If you're able to work/be home right now, realize what a privilege it is and treat it as such. Not everyone is that lucky. Staying at home is the responsible and safe thing to do and it helps the healthcare workers from getting overwhelmed. My husband and I have been having daily dance breaks (and cuddle breaks) to keep ourselves loose and going out on our terrace for fresh air. I've been a little slow moving on my projects but that's fine. Now is the time to go easy. Now #stayhome

Staying in is the right thing to do and everyone who is able to do so should practice self- isolation. Stay safe!

Amen, chingu. For those of us who are able to stay at home, we are lucky indeed. I will never take that for granted. I have a friend working in a long term care home, and she's working 12 days straight now. My husband is also in the essentials industry so he's also at work. I find it funny that people find it hard to just stay home and do social distancing. Not everyone has that luxury.
Stay safe, my friend. I try to watch Cuomo's daily conference, and it's scary how NYC is now. ((((HUGS)))))

Agreed!
I find something fun to stay at home, finishing my crochet and learning new crafts with fabrics, also reading some books :)

Stay well!

It is so incredibly sad to see what is happening to NYC. I fear the same for Australia. Too many people not taking this seriously. Last weekend a beach in Sydney was overloaded with people and we all went nuts over their idiocy. This weekend the same thing happened again in two seperate states. I don't understand how or why you'd be so reckless and careless no less. It so irresponsible and disrespectful to those who don't have the luxury of staying indoors. I can't imagine what those in Italy or Spain are thinking looking at how idiotic and lax some are being in other countries, acting as if no example has been set with what this virus is capable of? Not just health-wise but it's spread and fatality rates.
