Erno Laszlo White Marble Dual Phase Vitamin C Peel

I've talked it about this quite often on here that my most vexing skin concern is hyperpigmentation. It's why I use retinol and vitamin C skincare, brightening products,  get laser treatments and try to be super vigilant about sun protection. Even doing all of this, I feel like our Hawaiian vacation last year set me back a little. I wore high protection SPF, a hat and used an umbrella but the strong sun there just did a number on my skin. I was pretty aggressive with my skincare treatments when we returned home and my freckles are back to being in a pretty good place but I remain on the offensive. Since I have more time on my hands now I have been using this quarantine period to really work on my skin with a goal to banish those freckles. The Erno Laszlo White Marble Dual Phase Vitamin C Peel is one product I've been using and it has been a revelation.

Erno Laszlo White Marble Dual Phase Vitamin C Peel

$108  (1.7oz/ 50 mL Peel & 0.7oz/ 0.2 mL Activator)

The Product
As it's name indicates, Erno Laszlo White Marble Dual Phase Vitamin C Peel is a two step clarifying peel that reveals instant radiance.  Protective antioxidant vitamin C and collagen boosters combine to refine and renew skin while lactic acid gently exfoliates so skin is properly prepped to absorb brightening, hydrating and healing nutrients. This formula can be used to help address dryness, dark spots, dullness, and uneven texture as well as reduce the appearance of acne scars. It is appropriate for normal, dry, combination, and oily skin types. The carrot seed oil and vitamin C in the formula won't cause irritation in sensitive skin. This well known and well loved product has over 1,000 5 star reviews on Nordstrom and is rated 4.7 stars on Sephora with most reviewers lauding the results.

The Brand
Known for luxury anti-aging skin care the Erno Laszlo brand was founded in 1927 by Erno Laszlo, the dermatologist who might as well be called the father of personal skin care as he was the first to formulate sunscreens, introduce pH-balanced product and create customized regimens according to skin type. Over the years, Dr. Laszlo became a renowned expert and a favorite among Hollywood elites as well as royal society. The brand is dedicated to constantly revisiting and evolving their formulations to meet the highest standards when it comes to safe and effective, cruelty-free skincare. To this end, they've developed a strict set of clean standards and have been working to eliminate 51 potentially harmful ingredients from all of their new and existing formulas. The United States currently only bans 11 ingredients.

Key Ingredients
• Vitamin C reduces the appearance of dark spots and dullness, lightens skin and jumpstarts collagen production.
• Lactic acid gently exfoliates skin so it’s properly prepped to absorb brightening, hydrating and healing nutrients.
• Carrot Seed Oil heals balances dry or chapped skin, while helping diminish the appearance of age spots and sun damage.

Ingredients List
Step 1: PEG-8, Sodium Bicarbonate, Butylene Glycol, Glyceryl Stearate SE, Silica, Polylactic Acid, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Daucus Carota Sativa (Carrot) Seed Oil, Daucus Carota Sativa (Carrot) Root Extract, Beta Carotene (CI 40800), Parfum (Fragrance).
Step 2: Water (Aqua/Eau), Linoleamidopropyl PG-Dimonium Chloride Phosphate, Polyquaternium-10, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Polysorbate 20, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Trideceth-9, Sodium Hydroxide, Disodium EDTA, Lactic Acid, Parfum (Fragrance), Potassium Sorbate, Phenoxyethanol, Sodium Dehydroacetate, Limonene.

The Packaging
This dual phase treatment is packaged in two separate containers. The step 1 peel is housed in a luxurious white jar with a metallic top. A spatula is included to dispense the product hygienically. The step 2 activator is packaged in a sturdy small bottle with a glass dropper from which the product is dispensed.

How To Use
After cleansing, smooth step 1 peel over your face and massage gently for up to three minutes, avoiding the eye area. Mix the step 2 activator in your hands and massage onto your face over the peel for one minute and then rinse well with warm water.

My Experience
As previously mentioned, the Erno Laszlo White Marble Dual Phase Vitamin C Peel is packaged as two separate components: a jar of exfoliator and a bottle of activator. Step one is a orange cream with a slight grainy texture presumably from the lactic acid beads and a pleasant citrus scent. To use, I work this into my skin, massaging it around my face which is actually quite relaxing. For best results, massage evenly all over the face. After 3 minutes of doing this I add a few drops of the activator which is a clear viscous liquid to my hands and massage over the peel. I can feel this working as a warm sensation forms on my skin. After rinsing it off, my complexion is left feeling  renewed, with a smooth, even tone and illuminated glow. The best part is that the results are cumulative and each time I use this, it contributes to lightening my sunspots. I've noticed that it also helps to balance my skin which tends to be on the drier side.

As with any type of peel product, I try, I had some initial concerns this could potentially irritate my skin, and while it does feel like a scrub, it is gentle enough to incorporate into my regimen once a week. I haven't experienced any redness or other issues.  I could probably even use it more often but I've got other exfoliating processes going on and I don't want to overdo it. This peel is legit as are the results I've seen after a month and a half of usage. There is no doubt this is a luxury skincare product made with quality ingredients and a price tag to match. It is lovely to use while providing noticeable results and a little does go a long way. I can see why it's so highly rated and it is deserving of it's accolades as far as I'm concerned.

Note that one type of treatment alone isn't enough to treat hyperpigmentation, Along with this product, I'm  also currently using a vitamin C serum, a retinol sleeping mask, a variety of facial masks (sheet and wash-off), home microcurrent and microdermabrasion treatments, sun protection with blue light protection indoors and outdoors and I always wear a hat with a brim when I go out, even to my terrace.

I wrote this while being mindful that the current coronavirus outbreak might be affecting some people's lifestyle and/or income and that skincare products may not be a priority to everyone right now. Hyperpigmentation is an issue for me when I'm having allergy issues. I typically use vitamin c skincare products which help a lot. This sounds like a product that would work well for me!

This product does sound like it's worth its price tag, chingu:) I've only tried a moisturizer from this brand (can't remember which one) and I did like it. I don't think you can go wrong with anything from EL:)
PS Thanks for the haircut suggestions! My boys seem to like the idea of them cutting their own hair. Will let you know if they do do it and if it went well:D

This Erno Laszlo White Marble Dual Paste sounds great. It is lovely that it also helps balance the dryness of your skin. Not something one would expect in a peeling product. It is always good when a peel is gentle to the skin and quality made. It seems this product is a great fit for your skincare routine. Always nice to find something that works.
I'm still pretty simplistic with my skincare routine. My husband bought me a lot of skincare products by a Slovene brand Afrodita for the international women's day, so I've been using them for the past few months, I haven't tried anything new.
I don't really try to avoid the sun most of time, because this is a very sunny country but I do wear a brim hat when the sun is particularly strong and with years I got better with using sunscreen. When I was younger, I never used it and I was in the sun all the time. I'm fortunate not to have many wrinkles considering how much I have been overexposed to the sun all my life.

Wow, already the packaging looks wonderful! I understand your fears and I also try to protect my skin as much as possible and use additinal serveral products with Retionol. Especially for the Brand M. Asam but you show here wonderful alternatives. Thanks for sharing and I hope you feel better now.

It's great that it gives results but is also gentle enough for you to use frequently! I worry that things like this would be too much for my sensitive skin, the idea of a peel scares me a little, haha! it's good you don't feel that with this.

Hope that you are having a nice weekend :)

If it works then I think it's worth the price. I did try a soap, I think a charcoal bar from Erno Laszlo that I wasn't fond of. I currently use a glycolic peel that I love, to address these concerns. I have sensitive skin but will have to look into this one! Have a lovely new week, Rowena. :)

This product looks great! I would love to do a Vitamin C peel (honestly didn't know this was a thing!) as I have hyperpigmentation issues that I would absolutely love to fix.
