Reading...
Somewhere out beyond the edge of the universe there is a library that contains an infinite number of books, each one the story of another reality. The main character finds herself faced with the possibility of changing her life for a new one as she travels through the Midnight Library to decide what is truly fulfilling in life, and what makes it worth living in the first place. This book started off a little depressing but then it goes off in an existential direction that is quite emotional.

Watching...
We have been hooked on this fusion sageuk fantasy drama about a playboy male chef in the present day who falls into a pool to escape trouble and wakes up to find his soul trapped in the body of a queen in the Joseon Dynasty. While trying to find  a way home, he has to adapt to royal life in another era. This drama has comedy, romance, action, political intrigue but most of all it has a solid cast that can act and is highly entertaining. Choi Jin Hyuk has a pivotal cameo as the chef and Shin Hye Sun is stellar as the titular queen. And Kim Jung Hyun couldn't be more perfect as the king.  It's 20 episodes and we've been breezing through it. One of the best dramas we've watched this year!

Listening to...
I know BTS is all the rage and I do like some of their music but if I had a favorite KPOP group, it would be BTOB. I just love how they can perform a variety of genres and their vocals are amazing. They recently released an updated cinema version of their 2018 hit Blue Moon. The new version has a more mature and smooth jazzy vibe with their signature top-notch vocals and a powerful rap line.

Eating...
I've been making this salad non-stop lately. It incorporates some of my summer faves including cucumber, avocado, red onion and cilantro which I usually have on hand anyway. It's so refreshing and delicious and is such a fabulous accompaniment to grilled fish or chicken. I also do a vegan version than includes black beans and tomatoes. I usually add a little more red onion and cilantro than the recipe calls for.

Drinking...
Ripple Pea Milk
I usually have a matcha latte to start the day which is made with oat milk. I like to try different types of non-dairy milk and pea milk with no added sugar is my current favorite. Made from yellow peas. it is high in protein with a smooth flavor and consistency that froths up beautifully. Pea milk also contains many nutrients such as potassium, iron and calcium. I am off all dairy because it inhibits the absorption of the iron supplements I've been taking.

Started...
Weight Training
Somehow I've become one of those people who works out every day and one of my goals is to tone up, get stronger and build more muscle so I've incorporated a free weight arm routine into my workouts. It's been a few weeks and so far so good.

Acquired...
New Glasses
We finally went to see our eye doctor for checkups which we couldn't do last year and my prescription changed so I got new glasses. I've always gone for colorful plastic frames but this time I opted for a rimless titanium style which is different than anything I've had before. My husband was with me and told me I had to get these. They are so light that I don't even feel like I have them on. I'm still embracing a makeup free life.

Still Wearing...
Face Masks
Considering all the doctor's offices and medical facilities, I've been frequenting lately, I am still wearing  masks even though the government mandate has been lifted which I think is quite unwise and premature given the highly contagious nature of the Delta variant and breakthrough cases are real among those who are vaccinated. I also have to be careful because I recently found out that I'm anemic and have low lymphocytes.

Midnight Library sounds like a fascinating read. I haven't been reading as much (as I usually )do lately. I'm also anemic and it's hard to find energy for reading when it is this hot. Take care!
