Make The Most Of Your Weekends

Marie Claire

When Friday afternoon rolls around and you manage to get out of the office, you may be hopeful about how good your weekend is going to be. That being said, when the weekend is finally happening, you may find that it is gone in the blink of an eye and that you don’t end up feeling like you enjoyed it or got as much out of it as you could have. There are some ways to put an end to that and have the best weekend ever.

Sleep
There's really no such thing as catching up on sleep but if you haven't gotten as much sleep as you needed to during the week, you should take the opportunity to sleep in if you need to. Of course you don't want to sleep the entire weekend away on the regular but it's fine on occasion. There's no substitute for regular sleep so make sure you have good sleep hygiene and try to stick with a consistent bedtime even on the weekends.

Stay Healthy
The weekend really is your time to let go. Just remember to take care of yourself and your body. If you go out and find yourself drinking, remember to drink water too. Water will quickly get rid of bloating in your face and stomach. Drinking water before, during, and after drinking alcohol can help to lessen the inflammatory and dehydrating effects it has on your body. Proper hydration has many benefits and it will help to give you an extra boost of energy as well.

Meet Up With Friends
If you have been crunching numbers or writing reports all week, you deserve to take a breather on the weekends. What better way to get your mind off the growing list of tasks that you have to tackle than to hang out with your friends. You could meet up for a fun activity like going to watch a movie or to catch a show, concert or even a baseball game. If you don’t know what tickets are available, you can check out Vivid Seats. Limit Screen Time
You probably spend tons of hours every week in front of a computer screen. In your off hours you might  end up checking your work email or spend too much time on social media which can be stressful all in itself.  The weekend is all about unwinding and rest so you should try to reduce your exposure to stressors. Live in the moment and also make sure that you are doing what you can to try and create a relaxing space that works for you.

Make Time For Yourself
You probably spend enough time running around for everyone else. Try and organize a special time for yourself on the weekends. Indulge in an activity that you enjoy like a new yoga class exploring a new hobby, drawing yourself a nice bath and maybe experiment in the kitchen. You can also update your journal or even treat yourself to a massage.
