Last month I unboxed my first Play! by Sephora box and shared my initial impressions. Now I'm back to talk about the box I received for this month. Each box is curated around a specific theme. The theme of the June 2016 Play! by Sephora Box is The Minimalists and features a selection of next level nudes and no maintenance neutrals that help to create low key looks that prove that less can sometimes be more.
Play! by Sephora is a beauty box curated by Sephora. It comes in a collectible bag and includes 5 deluxe samples plus a fragrance, a Play! Book with information, tips, and helpful advice and a Play! Pass that can be redeemed in-store for a free beauty tutorial and 50 bonus Beauty Insider points with any product purchase. The monthly cost is $10. This covers shipping but not tax and purchase of the box does qualify towards your Beauty Insider points.
You can subscribe to Play! by Sephora online here. You put your email on a waitlist and once a spot opens you'll be notified to claim your spot and join. This subscription is currently only available in the U.S. and can ship to any address in the contiguous 48 states. When you subscribe, be sure to complete your Play! Profile because it will help products get customized for your beauty concerns. Just so you know, you don't get to choose any of your samples and there is no way to skip a month.
I try to be low maintenance with my hair but the one thing I can't get away from even during the summer is heat styling because that seems to be the only way to control it's natural waviness and I don't want my a-line bob to be frizzy. There's just something so gauche about frizzy hair. Anyway this product caught my interest when Allie wrote about it recently so I was just thrilled to see it show up in this box. I'm a big fan of Bumble and bumble hair products in general. I just got my hair cut so I'll try this out when I wash it later this week.
bareMinerals bareSkin Bronzer :: A lightweight, blendable bronzer and serum in one that can be worn alone or over foundation to give skin a sheer natural looking touch of sun. Suitable for use on a universal range of skin tones.
I'm definitely not one for tanning but I also don't want to look like I still have winter pallor during the summer. I did actually already test this product on the back of my hand and it's very sheer and buildable which makes it quite promising.
Benefit Cosmetics They're Real Mascara :: This bestselling mascara features a specially designed precision brush that lengthens, curls, volumizes, lifts, and coats even the smallest lashes.
This mascara isn't new to me considering I featured it in one of my recent loves posts. While I wouldn't have minded if a mascara that I haven't tried before, I'm not mad that I got this since I know it works for me and this size is perfect for travel or touch ups.
Becca Backlight Priming Filter :: A shimmering makeup primer that acts as a soft focus filter to blur imperfections and give skin an effortless radiant look. Infused with Becca’s proprietary blend of crushed pearls, this primer creates a lit from within, healthy looking effect.
I will generally say yes to anything that promises luminous looking skin so I'm looking forward to playing with this primer. A helpful tip from the Play Book is that only a tiny drop of this product is needed because when you overload on primer, it can cause pilling under your foundation.
Tarte Tarteguard 30 Sunscreen Lotion Broad Spectrum SPF 30 :: A multi-tasking, antioxidant-infused all-mineral, non-chemical daily sunscreen. This lightweight lotion moisturizes and provides broad spectrum protection without leaving a sticky feel.
This is a sunscreen that I had been curious about so I get to try it now. I just hope it really is as lightweight as it claims to be and doesn't leave a white cast like most mineral sunscreens have a tendency to do.
Tocca Beauty Florence :: This timeless and romantic fragrance is an alluring blend of Italian bergamot and crushed violet petals. Ivory gardenia combined with blonde wood evokes a sophisticated and feminine scent that conjures the elegance of a long ago Paris.
This scent brings back memories of the Tocca store on Mercer Street that I used to visit regularly. It's a fresh floral fragrance that feels light and summery. If any scent were to tempt me away from my signature Stella, this might be it. I love the bergamot notes and touch of jasmine.
This Play! by Sephora Box was a winner for me. I like the mix of season appropriate products and am excited that I will actually be able to use every single one of them. At just $10, the value of this box can't be beat. The theme of next month's box is Effortless Summer and I'm looking forward to it already. Sephora gives you a little video peek at the month ahead and they also provide monthly Unboxing Videos where you can learn more about the products themselves as well as how to use them. You can sign up for Play! by Sephora online here. You can also learn more about the subscription by visiting their FAQ page.
What do you think of these products? Which one would you want to try?

Wow the selections are really incredible for the price. But coming from Sephora I shouldn't be surprised hahaha! I'm so sad right now, I'm almost finished with MGIAG :o( I do love the grandpa, he actually reminds me of someone I know, just someone 40 years older hehehe. I can't stand "noona". She is really pissing me off with her manipulations. And it doesn't help that she also played (at least I think it's her) the mean girl in My love from another star. She's really irking me! Thanks for the list BTW, I'll definitely hit you up for more once I've gone through the other recommendations hehehe!

This sounds like such an amazing beauty box - particular as by completing your profile, products are customised for any specific concerns. Ah, so many fab brands featured, especially Tarte and BareMinerals! The price of this box seems very, very reasonable :)

Hi Rowena. This month's box looks very season appropriate indeed. Although I don't use foundation, I find the bronzer interesting to try. I had a Benefit mascara, and I must say they are very good. The fragrance also sounds very nice. Have a nice day, Rowena!xo
The Becca primer and Tarte sunscreen look promising. I totally wish I could try Play but would be annoyed if I couldn't skip months. The selection looks great though!

This one is a winner for me too! It's rare for me to like everything I see in subscription boxes, but in this one, I seriously want to try them all. Thanks for the heads up on this, Rowena! As soon as it's available in Canada, I'll be all over it in a heartbeat! hehe
Such a marvellous beauty box! Cute selection!!

While the selection is great, I just wish they didn't include things that could be redeemed by points. I'm tempted to try Benefit They're Real again, it's been a long time since I last tried it.

this sounds like a great beauty box...and a very affordable one as well.
It may sound crazy but I literally just started to use primer! And Tocca sounds lovely.
Those are some really amazing products in the Sephora Play bag.
You know I'm scared of mystery deliveries but there are a few nice products in here. I may, or may not, have untameable frizz that would horrify you so the hair stuff seems interesting. I may have to get samples from Sephora to see if it works for me, right now I have something that's just okay on really humid days but so light I love it anyway. That mascara has been my favorite for years. :)
