Jane Iredale Pure & Simple Makeup Kit Review, Jane Iredale Review, Jane Iredale Pure & Simple Makeup Kit Swatch, Clean Makeup Palette

I was recently selected by Influenster to receive a Jane Iredale VoxBox with the Jane Iredale Pure & Simple Makeup Kit that includes a PurePressed Base Mineral Foundation, Blush, Eye Shadow, and Just Kissed Lip and Cheek Stain. Jane Iredale is a brand that I've a had a positive impression of since I was first introduced to them at a beauty event hosted by Allure magazine a few years ago. Jane Iredale is a mineral makeup company that blurs the lines between skincare and makeup with a clean and cruelty-free product range that nurtures skin and enhance the lives of their consumers through their effectiveness and simplicity. This same principles have guided their philanthropic efforts which are directed towards causes that help women,  the environment and the arts.

Jane Iredale Pure & Simple Makeup Kit

Price: $33

The Jane Iredale Pure & Simple Kit is a set that contains some of the brand's most popular mineral makeup products. The products included in the Jane Iredale Pure & Simple Kits have all been created to enhance rather than cover so they provide lightweight coverage while letting your natural skin shine through. This face palette features mineral foundation, blush and eye shadow and a lip and cheek stain.  Formulated with skin-nourishing antioxidants, this kit is gluten-free, paraben-free, vegan and certified cruelty-free.

The kit includes four different products including:

PurePressed Base Mineral Foundation (2 shades):  A soft focus foundation, powder and concealer in one, with SPF 20 broad spectrum (UVA/UVB) sun protection. Made from micronized minerals and designed for all skin types. Contains antioxidant Pine Bark Extract and Pomegranate Extract.

PurePressed Blush:  Mineral blush created to highlight and define cheekbones with a soft wash of color. Formulated with soothing mineral and antioxidants, it is completely free of chemical dyes and irritating ingredients.

PurePressed Eye Shadow (2 shades): A highly pigmented, crease resistant, light-diffusing, long wearing mineral based eye shadow that can be used wet or dry. Gentle and safe even for sensitive eyes.

Just Kissed Lip and Cheek Stain: Two in one, moisturizing, long lasting lip and cheek stain that work with individual chemistry to enhance natural coloring and flatter your skin undertone. Formulated with natural botanical olive butter, avocado butter and wild rose wax.

This set is packaged in an eco-friendly heavyweight cardboard box with a magnetic closure. The inside palette is set within a metallic casing.  It includes a fan brush that can be folded out to apply foundation or folded up for blush application. It also includes a double ended eyeshadow applicator with foam tips. These are your standard palette type applicators that I really wouldn't use unless I really had to. It would've been nice if this had a mirror.

PurePressed Base Mineral Foundation
Two shades of the PurePressed Base Mineral Foundation are included in this kit: Warm Sienna and Golden Glow. These are both warm shades with a yellow undertone that provide SPF20. Warm Sienna is a little light for my complexion but it works well as an undereye concealer and eye primer. Golden Glow is a pretty good match for my skin. The oil-free formulation of this foundation offers up a sheer but buildable finish. You can get medium coverage if you layer it. I was a little apprehensive about trying a powder foundation since my skin is dry and doesn't like powder but I'm impressed with the natural looking semi-matte finish this provides without caking.  Of course I also made sure my face was well moisturized and I applied a hydrating primer beforehand. We're also in the midst of summer right now. I'm not sure how this would fare during the colder months and to be honest I probably wouldn't go there. The broad spectrum sun protection and versatility are nice since this foundation can also easily can be used as a concealer and setting powder.

PurePressed Blush
The Mocha blush included in this kit is the type of tawny rose shade I happen to be quite attracted to. It's a finely milled formulation with a silky smooth texture. This blush is well pigmented with a matte finish and I found that a little goes a long way because I applied way too much the first time but at the same time I also discovered that it blends out easily. It wears well and lasts for hours.

PurePressed Eye Shadow
Two shades of the PurePressed Eye Shadow are included in this kit:  Oyster is creamy matte off-white that can be used as a base or to create a natural, subtle highlight on the eyes or the face. Supernova is a shimmery plummy taupe, the type of shade that is pretty much universally flattering. It can be used all over, in the crease or as eyeliner. These shadows are buttery smooth with a lovely satin finish. Impressively they do not crease or fade and have some serious lasting power.

Just Kissed Lip and Cheek Stain
The lip/cheek stain comes in the shade Forever Pink.  It has a really nice hydrating formula both on the lips or cheeks. It provides a sheer wash of color that translates better on my cheeks than on my lips. This stain which has a lightweight feel showed up as a sheer cool pink on both my cheeks and lips. I don't mind the pink on my cheeks but lips are already naturally pink enough. I also didn't care for the scent which is cloyingly sweet and off putting.

This palette is a nice introduction to the Jane Iredale range but it's not a must have. It's convenient for taking on the go or travel and has components to create an entire makeup look. The colors are all pretty and wearable. I would say it's ideal for a natural daytime look. It's a good quality product that's easy to use and made with skin friendly natural ingredients.  The Jane Iredale Pure & Simple Makeup Kit s available in four universal shades to suit every complexion, including Light, Medium Light, Medium and Medium Dark. It can be purchased from Dermstore, Amazon as well as the Jane Iredale website.

What do you think of this kit? Have you tried any Jane Iredale products?

I have no experience with Jane Iredale as a brand, and while I like their philosophy, the products don't really attract me. Like many of Bobbi Brown they are just too classic for my taste, too much nudes and muted shades.

This palette does look pretty great for travel, Rowena. Easy to pack and comes with everything you need.:) I have only tried one JI product. It was a loose powder blush (I think) one of my sis gave me. I did love it, but man....the line is pretty expensive over here!
Anyhoo, have an awesome weekend ahead, my friend:)

I think I have a blush from Jane Iredale and the formulation is quite nice. The palette would be very handy to travel with. I should take a closer look at their pressed powder foundation colors next time. It seems that they have pale yellow colors available, which is always a good thing in my book. ;)

Hello dear Rowena! Sorry for being MIA: things have been pretty hectic lately. Anyway, I didn't know this makeup brand and I love that it takes care of your skin besides beautifying it. That's what I look for in a makeup brand. This kit is so soft and natural, I love the delicate colors for a sophisticated makeup. Thank you for another amazing review! Rowena, I've always admired their stance on being clean and cruelty free! However, I've never tried their products and I don't see any reviews on them. Everything looks lovely in the kit, but it sounds like their products are hit or miss. Thanks for the thorough and honest review on this.
