Current Mood

Listening...  to the Suspicious Partner soundtrack. How Do I Say It by O When is my favorite track.

Reading...  The Life-Changing Manga of Tidying Up: A Magical Story by Marie Kondo.  A totally fresh perspective on the KonMari method told through a manga.

Watching...  The Sinner and Huang's World. Two very different shows which are equally compelling in their own way.

Getting... creative with our meals this summer. Not being able to use the stove has really changed up how I cook. We had an amazing salad bowl the other night with a kohlrabi vegetable mix from Trader Joe's that I roasted and tossed with quinoa, tofu and a lemon tahini dressing. I also started making pizza at home again.

Drinking... kale, kiwi and banana smoothies for breakfast. I happened upon this combination because it happened to be what was in the refrigerator. I quite like it and it's great for skin. To keep the sugar content low, I use 1/3 of a banana. I actually keep cut up unripened bananas in the freezer for my smoothies.

Spending time...  on our terrace. This is something we say we ought to do every summer and we made it happen. We are incredibly lucky to live in NYC and also have our own outdoor space.

Still enjoying...  my pared down skincare routine. Going down to just two products has freed up my time to do other types of skincare treatments which I'll talk more about soon.

Also enjoying... my pixie cut. I didn't mean to go so short but it was crazy hot the day I went for my hair cut so I just went for it. My husband loves it and I've come around because it's so easy to maintain. I'm so grateful to be married to a man who doesn't equate femininity with long hair. That's such a retrograde attittude.

Looking forward to... wearing this jacket when fall arrives. It was one of my Nordstrom Anniversary Sales buys and I'm so happy with it.

Starting... physical therapy for my ankle soon. While my injury was not serious enough to require surgery, I have had to wear a protective brace and my doctor thinks that it could benefit with some PT. I was in PT for almost year for my shoulder years ago and though I didn't enjoy it, it really made a difference for my recovery.

What's up with you?

I agree, to equal feminity with long hair is a very old fashioned way of viewing things. I have had long hair all my life, as I feel like it is me and my style, but my mother wears a pixie and looks amazing and very feminine. It is great to be able to do as we please.

Oooh pixie cut! I love that style so much. Sadly I am not brave enough to go that short. Plus I have a horrible history of short do's that just don't look good on me.

Pixie cut?! I need to stalk your IG to check if you posted a picture of it! I wish I have to hair and face shape to pull off a short cut but I don't. LOL! I am currently loving The Sound of Silence a cover by the band Disturbed, it's so hauntingly beautiful.

Kale, Kiwi, and banana smoothies sound delicious. Anything that makes my skin better is a winner in my book. OMG having an outdoor space in NYC sounds like a dream. I know you enjoy it. I’ve been pairing down skin routine also and my skin looks better than ever. I hope you start PT soon, I’m sure that ankle brace isn’t very comfortable.

Happy weekend to you! I hope the PT will go smoothly. Wish you a speedy and full recovery! We've been restaurant-fagigued lately so trying out Blue Apron service - so far so good although I find prepping and cleaning after never fun. ;p

I've been meaning to check out The Sinner. I know it just premiered about two weeks ago. It's kinda funny because I usually watch Queen of the South and the it comes on right after! Have a great weekend Rowena!

Tidying up lessons in a manga? I think I would enjoyed that one. :)

Sorry to hear about your ankle injury. :( I think that PT can go a long way, especially if we dedicate proper time to it. I have a rather bad case of scoliosis (back deformation) and PT has helped me a lot in the past. I've been neglecting working out for a while now and I can totally feel the negative side effects. I'm preparing to start with back exercises again and perhaps even see a specialist and do some physical therapy. I hope your ankle gets better soon. I twisted my ankle a few times and it was such a drag not being able to walk normally. Wearing a protective brace must have been hard- my husband had to wear it for a long time when his Achilles tentative broke. PT helped him a lot after surgery and brace wearing.

I know that outdoor space in NY is not such a common thing to have, so glad to hear you two can enjoy your time on the terrace. :) Happy to hear you're enjoying your new haircut as well... short hair makes summer heat a bit easier to bear, I think.:)

btw you inspired me to bake a pizza today. I just realized that I haven't baked pizza since I moved to my new home. I need to try this new oven and see how it handles pizza.

I love the jacket and can't wait to see how you wear it. Hope your ankle gets better, I'm certain pt will help. Im going back to work and trying to figure out my meals. I typically do oatmeal for breakfast, almost like a ritual but I may try the kale kiwi banana smoothie. I'm still struggling with my vacation weight gain so this may help. I got creative with dinners though and my family loves it.

Your new haircut sounds awesome! I've always almost had longish hair. I did cut ti short once, but not pixie length.

Fingers crossed that the PT for your ankle helps! I've had to go to physio a few times in the past for various injuries - it can take awhile but it always makes a difference! :)

Hope you are having a lovely weekend :)
