Personal Update

Reading...
I was gifted this lovely tome which features a curated collection of the work of some of the world's best contemporary interior designers whose work merges modern art, style and architecture. It is a beautiful book with so much inspiration.

Watching...
Some of the best TV we've watched this year are Korean dramas and Hospital Playlist is up there. We blew through the first season in May and are now enjoying the second season which is dropping episodes weekly now. The doctors are back and so is the heart and humor which is the centerpiece of this series.

Also Watching...
Where Hospital Playlist is a feel good drama, Flack is the opposite but it is fascinating for the way it cynically exposes the dark and ruthless culture of celebrity PR and how heavily celebrity images are manipulated by their publicists. I've worked at a celebrity stock photo agency and you would not believe how many of them hire and set up paparazzi shoots and then pretend to be bothered that they have no privacy. And most things that a lot of celebrities do is strictly PR including relationships in some cases.

Eating...
Cold Noodles
The summer heat means eating foods that are cooling like salads including my fave smashed cucumber salad, lots of guacamole and cold noodles like Korean naengmyeon.

Drinking...
I love matcha because tastes great and is full of antioxidant goodness. I recently got into matcha spritzes and they are so refreshing and easy to make. Just mix 1/2 tsp matcha with 6 oz. sparkling water and the some lime juice. Honey can be added for a touch of sweetness. I always make sure to have this before 2pm because there is a bit of caffeine.

Calming Down With...
The whole pandemic and having to go out more recently for medical appointments has exacerbated my anxiety especially since Asian people are still getting randomly attacked in NYC and having to be on high alert all the time is stressful. These patches infused with adaptogenic herbs including ashwaganda and rhodiola help me to stay calm and keep the jitters at bay.  And I like how they can be discreetly placed inside my arm and work for 8 - 12 hours.

Buying...
I've been eyeing these Citizens of Humanity Emerson Jeans and ordered them when they went on sale. The distressed faded wash and lightweight organic denim make them perfect for the warmer weather and this is a look that won't go out of style. COH is my go to brand for jeans because of their quality and fit. They actually give my boy hips and butt some shape.

Working Out With...
After having some of my latex resistance bands break, I decided to try these bands made from a latex-cotton blend and so far so good. These offer a good amount of resistance, are comfortable to use and retain their shape well. I've been focusing on more upper body workouts and strength training since I can't use my exercise bike for now. I had a minor procedure to remove a cyst from my knee recently. Just got my stitches out and the biopsy came back normal.

The relax patches sound so interesting, but it's so sad that things are still so bad and scary there that you need things like this :(

I hope things get safer for you! Shocking that the violence continues :(

Hope you are having a good weekend.
